4.0 out of 5 stars Ding dong, the drama is gone! (Or is it?)

This second privilege book (beautiful disaster), is so wicked to read of; with Arianna ditched out of jail and going off to boarding school just outside of D.C. for another chance of life of the wealth with somebody else name---who's now dead; she make new friends and chatting along with the hottest guy on campus, everything gone right for her, not quite yet when things...

The blonde, beautiful and poetic nineteen-year-old Ariana Osgood has had quite an adventure since she escaped the mental institution she was in for murdering her ex-boyfriend. Since then, she has lied, cheated, stolen and murdered her way into a new life. Now she is Briana Leigh Covington, a sixteen-year-old redhead entering for the first time at Atherton-Pryce Hall, more exclusive than the Easton Academy, her former boarding school. She has to make a fresh start. Out with the old, in with the new. But Ariana has to encounter something she never has before: she's the new girl, the outsider. She has to kiss up to queen bees, be the butt of jokes from mean girls and set her eyes on hot guys while keeping her real identity under wraps. She is in constant alert, hoping no one would recognize her or have met the real Briana. And things get much worse what with Briana's ex-boyfriend still alive, a former flame searching for Ariana, and a fellow psycho inmate on the loose knows all of her secrets... The million-dollar question is: will Ariana have to whack more people in order to maintain this second chance at living a semi-normal life? But not all is bad. She has a chance to enter the "Privilege House," the most coveted dorm in campus. And we all know how competitive Ariana is...

This second book in the Privilege series -- a spinoff from the Private novels -- is much more enjoyable than the first one. Beautiful Disaster focuses on what made Kate Brian popular among teen readers: the privileged private school lifestyle. At the same time, it also has the mystery elements that have made Private so riveting. Ariana is definitely an interesting character, very complex and at times sympathetic, and Brian showed excellent judgment in creating a spinoff based on this character. Now that the Private novels have jumped the shark and entered the realm of bizarre and over the top, I think I will abandon those novels in favor of this one. For although Privilege is at times contrived and unrealistic, it is nevertheless very entertaining and I look forward to reading the next installment. This is a quick and fun read (read it under three hours), a great change from the rather intense novels I have been reading lately and I highly recommend it.

4.0 out of 5 stars This Girl is Nuts, November 17, 2009
After reading the first book in this series, I was eager to get started on this book. Arianna is nuts. She really thinks that she is going to just live someone else's life and no one will ever find out. She is trying to start over from two years ago in her life. So why not go back a little further. She's 20 or 21, pretending to be a sixteen year old. Brianna's grandmother really isn't going to notice that her grades went from failing to straight A's? And now she suddenly wants to go to Princeton? She gets herself out of every sticky situation she comes across. She still thinks that it's OK to kill if she has to, or if someone pushes her to do it. Rather than lay low she is desperate to "live it up" no matter what she is "driven" to. Again, it's everyone else's fault. The ending was a little predictible, but at the same time left you wondering what is going to happen in the next book. Kate Brian does a really good job at keeping you at the edge of your seat.

This book is to die for and can wait for the third book in october.

4.0 out of 5 stars Secrets and lies, August 27, 2009
Ariana Osgood is settling in to Briana Leigh's life. She's now enrolled at a private school and is returning to the privileged life she's accustomed to. She was one of the popular girls at Easton Academy and she's determined to be the same at Atherton-Pryce Hall.

Things begin to quickly fall into place for Ariana, now known as "Ana". She's befriended the right clique and has tied up loose ends to her past. Or so she thinks. When her former crush and nemesis learns where she is, Ariana will stop at nothing to keep her new life.

Beautiful Disaster is the second novel in the Privilege series - the spinoff from the Private series. Ariana is a character readers will love to hate. At times, you will feel sympathy for her until she concocts a new plan to do away with the competition. Ariana is ruthless! I have to say, while reading the Private novels, Ariana had a quiet presence, a character that is easy to forget. Which made the truth behind Thomas's death that more shocking.

In Privilege, readers see the REAL Ariana and it's quite frightening. In Beautiful Disaster, Ariana is portrayed as paranoid. Her confidence is slipping as her life begins to slip out of control. I have to say, I was exhausted while reading about Ariana's scheming to keep her past hidden!

Beautiful Disaster ended on a cliff hanger, one that could possibly destroy Ariana for good. Fortunately readers won't have to wait long to see what happens next. Perfect Mistake, book three, will be released in October.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great new series for fans of Private, June 25, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Beautiful Disaster carries on where the last one left off, with Ariana taking on Briana Leigh's identity and life, and starting school at Atherton-Pryce.

Unfortunately, her status as one of the elite isn't taken for granted as it was in her former life, so she has to choose her new friends carefully and suck up to the girls at the top to be accepted into their crowd.

There's a new male obsession for her at this new school, too - only problem is that he's going out with an extremely sweet and kind girl who was friends with Briana Leigh as children. Dare Ariana sabotage their relationship to have him for herself?

To the backdrop of all the school drama is the constant need for vigilance against those who might blow her cover - her ex-boyfriend from her time with Briana Leigh, her ex-cellmate from the insane asylum, and others.

This is a totally over the top novel, but I enjoyed every bit of it and have already pre-ordered the next one. Can't wait to see what happens next!

5.0 out of 5 stars shes back, June 25, 2009
ariana osgood is back in the world of posh boarding schools money and beautiful yet scandulous people. i sympathize with ariana in this novel. you have to admire he her cleverness drive and determination. she starts going back to her od ways when kaitlynn finds her and she is blackmailed. i think that ariana has changed for the time being but with kaitlynns surprise enrollment at the end there will be some dark times for ariana. i applaud kate brians way of writing in this novel and giving us the ability to understand ariana and the way she made the characters come to life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome book., September 12, 2010
This was an another amazing entry in the sick, twisted and glamorous world of Ariana Osgood. I could not put it down! Beautiful Disaster picks up where Privilege left off, and just got better the further I read. Ariana is such a great character. She can murder and eliminate any threats that threaten her, yet walk around and mingle in society easily. Ariana is so insane, but her story is just so interesting to read about.

Kate Brian does such a great job writing the Privilege books. The writing in both Beautiful Diaster and Privelege just flows and captivates you.

The ending was perfect, and leaves readers pining for Perfect Mistake, which comes out in October this year.

5.0 out of 5 stars Emkay3, July 14, 2010
I just started reading the series "Privileged". I started with "Perfect Mistake". What is the quickest way to go to Book 1 and start collecting the whole series? I love the book because it doesn't have sex, (sorta), it doesn't have swear words and I can share it with my other 5th and 6th graders and up. I love it and want to read them all. I am sick of the witches and vampire books. And we are in trouble if we bring books to school with obvious sex! Help!! Also, what about books for boys this age? I like to share but they are really sick of the w/v books. They love a good murder. Suggestions?

Everything Kate brian writes is brilliance, especially involving the private series. This spin-off series is so interesting and you never know what's going to happen next, it's well written, well researched, and all the characters are developed so vividly.
