Yes, this song is indeed about a messed up girl and has a great inspirational message that similar girls can relate to. I love the song.Kelly Clarkson has a song of the same title, but it is about a boy and just like Jon's song it is a great song with a similar message but a different story. It is on her "Thankful" and "Breakaway" albums. I remember going to Kelly's concert and upon Jon mentioning the name of his song the crowd went wild, but not me because unlike the crowd I knew it was not a cover of Kelly's as I heard the song before. If I remember correctly (I haven't heard the song in awile), this song is about a young, messed-up teenage girl. But it's pretty, and optimistic, and inspirational. Just an all-around nice song.
