but beware, it is a reissue of "Valley of the Sun". While I am elated to see Ms. Lowell's older books being reissued, as I still do not have many of them, it should be noted that they are being reissued under different titles, causing all manner of confusion and purchasing of books I already have!!

In classic Lowell style,

This is a book worth the cover price. If you loved the 'Only' series then this book is for you, it has a love for the land and the loyal appreciation to heritage. This is a contemporary love story that has a mature young woman, Hope, not afraid to meet love and physical attration with the right man. When she meets Rio and understand that she loves him, there is no turning back for her, she would give her all for the 'fighting chance' to live this 'dream' of her ranch and her new found love for Rio while it is still a possibility. Rio is a more complicated person, Hope is clear and definite, Rio doubts his potential and has no dreams, in the past he has always been detached of his own life, fulfilling dreams for others instead. He is trapped by his self-imposed limits, and thinks that the road has been chosen for him. Read this story where the moral is: use the 'fighing chance' all the way to its last recourse with integrity and hope where love and 'belonging' endures, willing to trade what you cannot keep to have what you cannot earn.

A good read, again.,
By Sharon Galligar Chance (Wichita Falls, Texas) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Beautiful Dreamer (Hardcover)
"Beautiful Dreamer" is a novel of quests and discoveries. As the hero and heroine search for the solutions to the drought-induced dilemma, they find themselves discovering emotions that had been long dead and buried deep. The result is well worth the journey to discovery. Elizabeth Lowell is well known for her versatility in writing. She can whip out a spine-tingling mysterious suspense novel, and then turn around and amaze her readers with a far-out science fiction epic. But it is her sensual and passionate romantic tales that have endeared her to so many fans. With "Beautiful Dreamer," Lowell counts on her fans to continue their loyalty when they discover this novel was actually released in 1985 under the name of "Valley of The Sun." Lowell has expanded the story to flesh out the plot line and add details, and for those who have read the previous version it will be interesting to discover those additions. For those who haven't read the former edition, "Beautiful Dreamer" will prove to be an intriguing novel.

Incredibly Romantic,

The hero (Rio) in this book is one of my favorites. Although he struggles with his past and his own pain, he his strong, sexy and givng. What I like about this book is that Rio and Hope don't waste thier time fighting all of the time. You can feel thier care and feelings for one another. Hope is strong and independant without being abrasive. The love scenes in this book are sensual without being filthy. I HIGHLY recommend this book!!!! You won't be sorry!!!!

Beautiful Dreamer,

This was one of my favorite books written by Elizabeth Lowell originally as Valley of the Sun. I have an old copy and reread it every so often. I knew that she would soon re-release it, as she's brought back so many of her old books. I think it's time she wrote something new. I too, become very disappointed when I am waiting for something new only to find out it's a reprint.

What better way to spend an enjoyable afternoon than with a reread of "Valley of the Sun" or a first time read of "Beautiful Dreamer", by Elizabeth Lowell! Rio is a mysterious, intelligent, gorgeous guy, if somewhat dubius of his potential, who thinks he is unable to have any life other than a wanderer. Hope (don't you love this name?) knows only that she wants to preserve her ranch at all costs. Allows herself to dream of a future even though she has fallen in love with a man who thinks he cannot dream. Glorious, colorful, western background surrounding an unforgettable romantic struggle.

Caveat emptor,

What a disappointment--all ready to settle down for a good read with a new Elizabeth Lowell book only to discover that it's an old story with slight changes in the beginning. I went over the book very carefully and NOWHERE does it say that it was previously published as Valley of the Sun by Harlequin in 1985. Somehow that doesn't seem honest. Perhaps, if the publisher plans to release more of Lowell's early work, they would be kind enough to warn the reader that it's a reissue.

Western dreams,

(...)I like western romance novels, and nothing comes close to Beautiful Dreamer. The plot line is refreshingly original, the characters are believable and have won a place in my heart. Elizabeth Lowell paints the west so vividly. I've read several other of Lowell's books, and this is undoubtably my favorite. I really wish there were more books like this. Thanks!

This was a well-crafted story about a man with a gift for finding water and a woman who believes in him and his gift. A feel-good story that will keep you reading until the last page!
