4.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Movie
Beautiful Girls is one of my favorite movies and I think that this movie should have received much more attention than it did. The soundtrack is not bad...but where some movies are dependent upon their soundtrack (think Cameron Crowe movies), and the soundtrack makes you think of the movie, I don't think this was the case with this collection. The best songs are Chris...

I was so disappointed, as many of the songs featured in the movie are missing, including "I Run (So Far Away)" by the Flock of Seagulls, "Locomotive Breath" by Jethro Tull, "Fool To Cry" by the Rolling Stones, and others. Not a very good selection.

3.0 out of 5 stars Here is the review you were looking for, December 19, 2004
This review is from: Beautiful Girls: Music From The Miramax Motion Picture (Audio CD)
Approx 80% of you are here for the same reason I came here....to find the name of that darn catchy song played in this movie, but is NOT on the soundtrack. Well, I did find out what it was, and am now enjoying it with great abandon ;-) The song you are all looking for...they don't write em like that anymore...is actually called "The Breakup Song" and is by Greg Kihn...you remember him....our loves in jeopardy...baby...oooooo..ooooo...hehe.
The soundtrack itself is ok...but not as good as I hoped it would be.
Enjoy

Beautiful Girls is one of my favorite movies and I think that this movie should have received much more attention than it did. The soundtrack is not bad...but where some movies are dependent upon their soundtrack (think Cameron Crowe movies), and the soundtrack makes you think of the movie, I don't think this was the case with this collection. The best songs are Chris Issak's "Graduation Day", Pete Droge's "Beautiful Girl" and Satchel's "Suffering". And who doesn't love "Beth" and "Sweet Caroline"? But they are missing a song that was played in the movie, I think it may be the Greg Khin band, and not remembering the name of the damn song has plagued me. I bought the soundtrack in hopes of getting that song and then it wasn't on there. Bad Miramax...be ashamed. But please go rent the movie, for it is definitely a 5* cinema feature. Buy the disc, too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great soundtrack to a great movie!, December 26, 2003
This review is from: Beautiful Girls: Music From The Miramax Motion Picture (Audio CD)
This movie was so good and I liked the music so much I bought the soundtrack. Now it is one of my favorite CDs too! The title song is beautiful, plus it has Kiss and Neil Diamond and Chris Isaak. Others mentioned it not having Flock of Seagulls - to me the most notable missing song was "Fool To Cry" by the Rolling Stones; other than that, it completely playable on all levels!

Very cool movie with a nostalgic feel to it that is reflected in the soundtrack. First time I'd heard of Satchel, and ended up liking their other stuff as well as the song on the soundtrack. These songs remind me of the movie and the moments in it. Soundtracks are cool cause sometimes I will get into music that I'd never hear. I always been a fan of the mello rock, alt-country, so the songs on this weren't really a stretch.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sweet and unforgettable, October 4, 2003

Beautiful Girls is one of those movies lost in the 90's era. It has essential 90's charm and the essence of 90's dating music. The music stays with you. It's one of the sweetest movies I've ever seen. Deserves to be noted. All the songs in here are playable without the movie. That's quality.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great soundtrack, August 14, 1999

I suggest you see the movie before you buy the soundtrack. I really loved the movie, and after seeing it 4 times, I decided to buy the soundtrack. It's a really good soundtrack, one of the best out there. I love the song by Satchel, "Suffering". "Graduation Day" by Chris Isaak is a beautiful song. My favourite song would have to be the title song of the movie "Beautiful Girl" (singular), by Pete Droge. A very lovely song. Additional pluses, are Neil Diamond's Sweet Caroline, which is a recurring theme throughout the film as well.

It was an excellent movie, and the soundtrack is just as good.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Soundtrack but missing a song, February 11, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Beautiful Girls: Music From The Miramax Motion Picture (Audio CD)
A very good movie about 20 years olds revisiting each other for their high school reunion and the relationships they're in. The soundtrack is just as good but I have to correct one persons review that said all the songs in the movie can be found here. THIS IS NOT TRUE! It is missing a classic 80's one-hit wonder song: "I Ran (So Far Away) by A Flock Of Seagulls. I am not sure why this was left off the soundtrack as it's the only thing keeping it from being perfect and that is why I give the soundtrack 4 stars instead of 5.

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing, December 30, 2007

This is one of my all-time favorite movies; unfortunately, most of the best songs in the movie aren't on the soundtrack. After seeing how weak the sountrack was, my husband and I spent our money on the songs we really wanted from iTunes (they aren't all available) and made a playlist. Take my advice, buy the movie, don't buy the soundtrack.

I think this is one of the best soundtracks out there. It has some classic songs and some great new songs. And the movie is an independent classic with a lot of great lines!
