Unbelievable,
This review is from: The Beautiful Letdown (Audio CD)
I thought it was impossible that anyone could possibly write such beautiful lyrics, but Jonathan Foreman just blows me away. The arrangements aren't overly intricate but that's perfect for the target audience. The music alone warrants 5 stars.
Now, the dualdisc format makes me somewhat nervous. First of all, there's a warning that states the cd may not play on all cd players, but I haven't encountered that. However, since both sides are pressed, you can't just put the dualdisc anywhere; I always have to make sure it goes in the case to protect the data. I don't even want to insert it in the slot of my car's stereo out of fear of ruining it. The dvd isn't stellar, but it's wonderful for Switchfoot fans. The menu (and 2 videos plus a making of) all play "Dare You to Move," which is a lovely song (could very well be my theme song), but using it for the dvd menus was somewhat pushing it. It contains the entire album that can be played in 5.1 Digital Audio which sounds amazing. There's also a video of Jon playing an acoustic version of "On Fire," which as a song is so heart-wrenching it deserves to be a single; I'm glad it was included. The Switchfootage is somewhat of a question mark (the band having some fun) and makes me strongly consider this disc is only for fans. I strongly recommend this album; there's barely a lemon among the songs. It also makes a perfect gift for people who are looking for meaning in their lives.

Great music, but avoid the DUALDISC,

This CD is full of very good tunes. The songs are very subtle in praising GOD, though. But if you truly love our Lord, you'll hear the message. It's a clean alternative music CD, so you can feel comfortable listening to it in front of your children. I don't recommend the DUALDISC, unless all your electronics are SONY. It will only play in my car or in my Sony DVD player. It won't play on my GE kitchen CD player or the Pioneer CD player in my living room. If you'd like to avoid this hassle, I suggest you buy the regular audio disc.

I love love love this CD, when i first got it i let it spin in my car for a couple months. I've always loved the sound of Christian rock but the blatant message in alot of them kind of was a turn off, not the case with switchfoot.
They have an incredible range of sounds, with pretty much something for everyone! My favorites are: This Is Your Life, 24, On Fire (makes me weep!!!), and Dare You To Move. P.S. Definately pay special attention to the lyrics, they're the best part

I remember listening to this back in the day, great sound, good lyrics and a fun feel... It has got to be one of their best albums; I still listen to it occasionally today. Love it!

They continue to blow this young, black mind almost on the daily. 4.09 stars.,

When I think of Switchfoot, certain things, flood my thoughts;
Strained vocals, thoughtful, heartfelt lyrics and some pop-rock for the masses! \m/ This album is a surprise, and THEN some: Some ballads, some rockers, mostly melodic and very tuneful and super-planned out lyrics, which is one of the best parts!! I bought this in 2003: But don't ask me why. I was just looking for something different, and I thank the freakin' Stars above, for leading me to this CD, which was $7+ at the time. Since it was my lunch break at work, I decided to grab my trusty, rusty-red CD player, and give this bad boy a spin. I was nearly speechless listening to such grit and rawness. Never had I heard a slightly sexy man, pour out so much Heart and Pain in my Life. A true turn on of the member below, but most importantly, the heart, soul and the ever-flowing mind. Thumbs up, Switchfoot!! Cover Art: B Songwriting: A- (Something with depth, and non-mindless for a change!) Vocals: C- (super-strained, pulling a Ashlee-Simpson-lite, but that mattered little, because this Bloke had/has Heart! =^D ) Length: A- Overall: B 4.09 stars.

This is the cd that i have bought by Switchfoot...again i've heard of them through other people that rave about their music. So being the listening guy that i am. I thought why not buy a cd by them and see what's really going on and everything. So yeah even after only listening to one song on the cd "Meant To Live" i knew that i had a winner in the "Beautiful Letdown". I didnt experience a letdown of any kind throughout the whole cd. Just when i thought well they can't possibly top the previous song. I get proven wrong (i'm glad) because i hate spending money on a cd and finding its not even close to the potential that the artist has.
Switchfoot isnt like that at all and i love The Beautiful Letdown and i do plan on purchasing other Switchfoot material whether it be another CD or DVD by them. Whatever is i'm there with it. Another fan has been gained by them and thats for real. A couple of the many favs on the cd: "Meant To Live" "Twenty-four" "Adding To The Noise" "On Fire" I could list the whole cd track listing but i did say a couple. Normally don't buy the dualdisc cds myself because they don't really add a lot to the be honest. But i was cool with the video and making of for "Dare You To Move" as well as the acoustic performance of "On Fire". If you already have the original though i dont believe getting the dualdisc will add much more to the experience already..unless you must own all Switchfoot releases, i'm out.
