5.0 out of 5 stars Music From CSI: Crime Scene
I bought this album after hearing the second song,"Little Gem", on the hit CBS show CSI:Crime Scene. This is one of those bands that you hear all over the place(tv,films etc.)as their music seems to fit many moods. My favourite songs are the hypnotic "Desert Drive","1001 Dreams" and the Bert Jansch-Pentangle influenced "Devil May...

1.0 out of 5 stars Not for anyone to truly enjoys any type of Dance Music
I bought this CD because I thought it was a new album released under the Euphoria name (there are about six i think so far including Ibiza, and others). I realized my mistake but listened with an open mind. The CD has good steady beats but that is about it. The vocals are lacking, as is the rest of the true electronic music. All in all, not a good buy.

This is one of those bands that you hear all over the place(tv,films etc.)as their music seems to fit many moods. My favourite songs are the hypnotic "Desert Drive","1001 Dreams" and the Bert Jansch-Pentangle influenced "Devil May Care". Euphoria adds a very original approach, the slide guitar and beats, to a genre that needs a breath of fresh air.

4.0 out of 5 stars 'Chill' album, but in a good way..., July 22, 2001

What snared me on Euphoria was the 'slide guitar meets beats' blurb, plus this Six Degrees label. What keeps me coming back is how darn smooooooth this CD is. It's background music without being dull. Chilled without being asleep. It's hard to draw any particular comparison to other groups, as certain songs call to mind (for me) anything from Forest For The Trees to Sneaker Pimps to Sixteen Horsepower or Calexico. Calling it techno country & western doesn't do the music justice, but the slide guitar really does carry the focus of the melody, and gives something of a rural, western feel to the music.

It certainly is not a CD to make you want to get up and shake your tookas, but there is a diffuse energy that courses through the CD ('sweet rain' for example jumps with a nice skitter step). I'm more partial to the insturmental tracks over the ones with (admittedly soft) female vocals, but others probably prefer the vocal tracks. The beats and drums have a bit of a global feel to them on occasion, with what sounds like dumbeks or bongos on certain tracks replacing the typical pre-programmed rhythm section.

This would be one heck of a CD for a warm and rainy summer day, sitting on the covered porch with a cool drink, watching the rain splash off the dust-cleaned cacti.

4.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful blend of guitar & techno/trance, August 13, 2001

I bought this CD after a brief listen at a book store; i was hooked immediately. I agree w/ what most other reviewers have to say, so i'll only add one additional thought: for any of you who like Acoustic Alchemy (earlier CDs, before one of the guitarists died), you should try this CD; it takes a variety of guitar styles and blends them nicely w/ a driving techno beat. Conversely, those who like the guitar styling of Euphoria might want to try AA, as you will hear a wonderful range of influences. Warning: Acoustic Alchemy is not 'trance or electronica.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sweet, sweet music, August 3, 2002

Everytime I have seen "Beautiful My Child" on record shelves, I have been awfully curious according to the description on the album. "Guitaronica"? Eh, the label is awfully silly to call this lovely collection of trip hop, ambient, world music with acoustic guitar thrown in for good measure. Label or no label, the music I heard was music to my ears. I found songs like "Sweet Rain" and "1001 Dreams" soothing to listen to. The entire mood of this album is very gentle and relaxing. Most of the songs are instrumentals but there are a couple of tracks on the album with vocals. I did find the album albeit too short but otherwise the album is flawless.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hypnotic musical landscapes, May 3, 2001
This review is from: Beautiful My Child (Dig) (Audio CD)
I've gotta completely disagree with the last review. I happen to be a BIG dance fan and I love both of the CD's by this band. Yes, it is confusing telling this band apart from the Euphoria compilations but there's more to dance music than endless thumping beats. The BAND Euphoria takes the grooves and beautiful production techniques of electronica and brings more of a guitar and song driven approach to the music. They create hypnotic musical landscapes that are really original. I think it works beautifully for Dance fans, rock fans, guitar fans and just plain lovers of interesting, unique music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Euphoria achieves its name, June 3, 2011

It's been years since I've had a copy of this rare gem, but there it was and I decided to get it again. Where else are you going to find world music samples and custom-programmed electronica tightly overlaid with funky slide guitar and blues vocals of inscrutable lyrics? Yet all those ingredients, of course, do not assure an inspiring result. So I'm glad to tell everyone that this album comes from a mysterious muse who indeed has access to the Well of Inspiration. Each cut has a mood all its own and most contain an actual melody, which I think is rare anymore. An especially great disc for driving, thinking and writing.

A night drive in the BMW with this cranked up and my riders say it's like being in a European movie. A fine and recommended experience.

Every time I play this CD I hear something new and exciting. The depth and breath of creativity displayed is simply amazing. Definitely not your run-of-the-mill chill or lounge CD.
