Diamond enlisted Robbie Robertson to produce the 1976 album-his most ambitious-featuring the hits If You Know What I Mean and Don't Think...Feel .

5.0 out of 5 stars What A Beatiful Noise! September 5, 2000
Format:Audio CD
On this CD, Neil Diamond hooks up with The Band's Robbie Robertson, who produced this melodic and sentimental array of compositions. Here, the most ardent ND fan will find heartwarming ballads (If You Know What I Mean, Home Is A Wounded Heart, Lady-Oh), good-time standards (Stargazer, the title track, Jungletime) and the feel-good "Don't Think...Feel". Robertson also contributes musically here, playing guitar on songs like the equally touching "Dry Your Eyes". Robertson's "The Band" mates (Garth Hudson, Rick Danko, Richard Manuel) also perform on this CD as well, which gives the songs here diverse arrangements of musical styles. All fans of either ND or The Band should add this CD to their collections. "Check it out!"

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic Neil January 27, 2000
By Neptune
Format:Audio CD
I have loved his music ever since I could remember, but this is the album that sealed it for me when I was eleven. This album is a wonderful blend of pop, rock, and ballads. "If You Know What I mean" and "Signs" are provoking ballads, and "Home Is A Wounded Heart" still stands as one of Neil's most beautiful songs. Uptempo songs include the rough-edged "Jungletime", the moody "Street Life", and the ever-charming "Don't Think, Feel." However, the best track is the title song-an incredible fusion of synthesized and acoustic instruments, and a progressive feel guaranteed to keep lifting you higher as the song moves on. There really is not a weak song on this album, and I would tell you if there was because nobody knows Neil's music like I do.

4.0 out of 5 stars Dry your eyes November 15, 2001
Format:Audio CD
As most of you who have read my reviews know I am a big
Neil Diamond fan.(in fact its the only thing my EX sister in law and I ever agreed on). "Beautiful noise" is one of the best!
My favorite cut is "Dry your eyes"! According to a recent interview with the man, the title came from one of his daughters. Well worth a listen!

5.0 out of 5 stars Jungle time,Rumble time,Tumble time November 11, 2005
Format:Audio CD
Beautiful Noise is Neil's very rockin' tribute to his hometown. While this album has some beautiful slow songs,it is the rockers

that I most enjoy.Songs like "Jungletime" and "Street Life" are almost-punk songs about NYC's nightlife.Neil's macho delivery matches the cool guitar riffs and the songs subject matters perfectly.

The album has many diverse styles-"Stargazer" sounds like it was written in the 1930's."Dont Think Feel" and "Surviving the Life" have a gospel sing-along flavor."If You Know What I Mean" and "Signs" very poetic and pretty."Dry Your Eyes" a powerful and timely rocker that deals with a nation healing from war.

Yes,Robbie Robertson poduced it and took some heat for it.But it is Neil Diamond who is still a superstar almost 30 years later!

5.0 out of 5 stars Neil's first album after 2 year hiatus (1976) October 15, 2005
Format:Audio CD
It's weird to watch the Last waltz and see people like clapton and dylan and then see Neil doing "dry your eyes". Robbie robertson took alot of crap for producing this album but it's awesome. Musicians are supposed to experiment and neil and robbie did just that. There's alot of good stuff on this one and it doesn't sound like a normal neil diamond album. 3 of my favorite diamond songs are on this one (if you know what I mean, lady oh, and dry your eyes). Once again, emotionally charged and kind of revolutionary when you consider the teasm that made this one. You also have to get "love at the greek" because it highlights neil's return to the stage after a 2 year hiatus and it is among the best live stuff I've ever heard.

5.0 out of 5 stars Never boring August 3, 2006
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
No matter what he sings, Neil Diamond never fails to please. I play this CD and before long, my body is swaying and toes are tapping to the beat. Some lyrics upbeat, others touching the heart. His music is timeless, just as appropriate today as it was thirty years ago.

5.0 out of 5 stars Without a doubt Diamond's Best Album!! September 9, 2008
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Produced by the legendary Robbie Robertson from The Band should be enough to know this is going to be a great album. I have to admit to not knowing too many of Neil Diamond's albums as such, but like most people I know all of his hits. They could have almost released every song off this album as a single and they would have been hits. Standout tracks to me are of cause Beautiful Noise, Stargazer, If You Know What I Mean, Streetlife, Jungletime and the track he actually performed with The Band on the last waltz, Dry Your Eyes, which amazes me never got on any of his greatest hits albums.
