One of the best music docs I've ever seen, November 11, 2008
Saw this at Asheville Pizza Company, which is a huge movie theater/pizza place. It was awesome. It started out with Merlefest and went for a year following Larry Keel, alternative bluegrass legend, around the country. San Francisco, Tennessee and North Carolina were my favorites, topped off with an amazing night in Atlanta.
The sound is okay, but I forgive the technical issues because the music is incredible, lots of acoustic jam sessions mixed with big performances. Vassar Clements, Tony Rice also play with Larry.
I was moved by the movie. Larry is a true road warrior, his wife is beautiful and a total rock for him and the band, and the supporting cast is hysterical and talented musicians. Life on the road is tough, and this movie captures it.
I admit I'm biased because I like Larry Keel, but the film was awesome.
