Biography

When the pop boy band Take That split in 1996, a nation of British teenage girls (and some adult men) mourned. When they reunited ten years later, their fans were still there for them and catapulted them to renewed success, even if the cheeky face of Robbie Williams was absent. Though they never broke America – only one of their pre-break-up singles charted there – their success in their homeland… Read more in Amazon's Take That Store

5.0 out of 5 stars FABULOUS COMEBACK ALBUM!, March 3, 2007

This review is from: Beautiful World (Audio CD)
I came upon Take That back in the mid 90s by accident. Being a fan of the Disco genre, Take That's covers of "Could It be Magic", "It only Takes a Minute" and "Relight My Fire" commanded my attention. Then I purchased their first album, a very "boyband" effort but still enjoyable enough. Their 2nd album was an even more interesting surprise, with a couple of songs that I would dare call brilliant ("Pray" and "Broken your Heart") that would become long term favorite of mine. The third album was an even more mature effort that hinted of great things to come from Take That. Then after their obligatory Greatest Hits set, it all came down crashing prematurely as the band called it quits in 1996. Many around the World, including myself, simply could not understand why we were left hanging like that...
Fast forward to 2006, and after some initial interest in the band's breakup, the fans got their wish... a miracle that we never thought would come true: Take That regroups and all of a suddens it seems like the last 10 years never passed. Still...after a most satisfying tour, Take That takes it one step further and brings us their very best album yet, "Beautiful World", and what a *fabulous* comeback album it is!!! Filled with many slow to mid tempo tunes, this album delivers a more mature, more solid Take That that surprises even the most dedicated long term fans and has the potential to add on to that already huge fanbase. It is difficult for me to choose from so many solid efforts in this set but "Reach Out", "Beautiful World", "Wooden Boat" and "What you Believe in" are immediate stand out performances. Add to these gems the current singles "Patience" and "Shine" and you have an album that is nothing but spectacular. In this special Japan release, we are treated to two extra cuts, "Butterfly" and "6 in the morning Fool", the latter being a mid-tempo tune worthy of being the next album's single on it's own merit.
Needless to say... we the fans could not have been rewarded with a more impressive collection of songs from our favorite never forgotten lads. Take That is definitely back for good and better than ever. Buy this album ASAP and find out why Take That's return to the Pop scene is being heralded as the most spectacular comeback in Pop's history. It saddens me most that this extraordinary album has not been released in the USA market, and I feel it has the potential to place Take That in the american charts since "Back for Good". The lads deserve the success and more.
Here is to more music and tours from Take That in the future. CHEERS!!
