If you are new to Christian music, you have to try "Beauty for Ashes" by Crystal Lewis. Christian music's best kept secret will without a doubt have an impact on you.

I have been a great admirer of Crystal Lewis since her first Spanish release "Recuerda".

The songs on "Beauty for Ashes" bring messages of hope and joy, especially in times of depression and sadness. There were, and still are, times in my life where i needed encouragement. "Seasons Change" & "Beauty for Ashes" are two songs I will never forget.

On another note, Lewis has received many accolades for her project.

"People Get Ready...Jesus is Comin'" was named the #1 song of 1996 by CCM & CRR and was nominated for "song of the year" at the 1998 Dove Awards. It recently made the Top 100 songs of the decade, a chart compiled by CCM radio, coming in at #4. "Beauty for Ashes", the song featuring Ron Kenoly, was awarded the 1997 ASCAP "song of the year" award and also made the TOP 100 songs of the decade, coming in at #58. The upbeat groove "God's Been Good to Me", along with "People Get Ready...", "Beauty for Ashes", & "The Beauty of the Cross", were all #1 hits on Christian radio. "Beauty for Ashes" also earned Crystal the 1998 Dove Award for "female vocalist of the year" and "best Spanish album" for her Spanish version of Beauty for Ashes, "La Belleza de la Cruz".

In all honesty, Crystal will become your favorite artist in no time!

This is Crystal Lewis' pinnacle album. On the albums before this one, Lewis had been attempting to be an R&B diva. Through no fault of her own, that was not a successful endeavor. She certainly had the voice for it, but she was not surrounded with music people who were well-versed in that musical genre (it wasn't until Out of Eden dropped LOVIN' THE DAY that a Christian artist treated R&B properly).

On BEAUTY FOR ASHES however, Crystal Lewis decided to head towards the middle of the road, and it paid great dividends. In 1996, no one in Contemporary Christian Music had a voice that could match Lewis' and combined with simple, yet strong messages of faith, she was able to release a masterpiece. "Beauty for Ashes" and "People Get Ready, Jesus is Coming" are probably the best-known tracks, the former combing her siren-like vocals with Ron Kenoly's gospel trained voice. My favorite, however, is probably "God's Been Good to Me" because of its funkier and more upbeat sound.

In my opinion, Crystal Lewis has not been able to match this album with any of her later releases, but that's okay. She's changed and matured to a different sound, but I'll always have BEAUTY FOR ASHES.

crystal lewis's track "beauty for ashes" is the best c.d. I ever purchased. the minute that I listened to her, I felt a tremendous positive energy running through me.her songs uplift the spirit of god and tell to all how great god really is! with her beautiful voice, and the lyrics that she speaks, I would def. suggest to anybody who is looking for a great christian artist, to pick up this track and listen to her music. I guarantee the second that you listen to her, and her music, you will never be able to get enough of it!

I may be a little impartial to the music of Crystal Lewis. It is due to her music that I am now saved. Without her music, I would still be in the world doing everything my way. The wrong way. I have all of her music. Beauty for Ashes is inspired by the Beauty of The Lord's blessing on Crystal. It shines through for all to see. I put the cd in and hit play and repeat. The cd plays over and over and over. I listen to it as I fall asleep and it is playing as I wake up each day. I have over 200 Christian cd's, this is the best by far.

Wow, Crystal Lewis did a great job on this cd. You can tell that she really loves The Lord Jesus .
I remeber listening to Healing oil on a human video and really loving the song before I got this cd. People get ready is a really awesome song also. God bless her.

this c.d is my favorite of crystal lewis!it's alot better than all of her other c.d's! "the Lion and the lamb" is my favorite song on this c.d,it's so powerful and every time I hear it I want to cry!alot of the other songs including,"beauty for ashes", and "people get ready" are also awesome songs. I'd recommend this c.d to anyone! it's a MUST buy!!!

This was such a touching and encouraging cd. I was going through some tough times in my life, and God really ministered to me through this cd. The song Seasons Change is an appropriate reminder that we can make it through...things will indeed get better, and that God has all the answers. Crystal shows off her great vocal skills, and this is one cd that you probably won't get tired of hearing. Go ahead and make the investment...you'll be glad you did.

I am not much into listening to female singers but I heard "PEOPLE GET READY" on K-Love and fell absolutely in love with the song so naturally I had to find out who sang it and then buy it.I am so glad I did .The entire cd is awesome.The music is sooooo different and you can tell Crystal is definately filled with Jesus.She has been blessed with an awesome voice with superb lyrics (especially with the versus taken right from the Bible) and music.Crystals voice is very ryhthemy and bluesy.I was overwhelmed on how well she can sustain notes.She's amazing and very gifted.All the songs are great but another one that is better than most is Healing Oil.Give this cd a try it's wonderful and God inspired .It makes you think.

GET READY... for the best ever. Lewis consistantly surpasses expectations. Don't we wish all Christian performers followed this standard for production. A MUST BUY! Own this CD...

AS IN HER ALBUM "GOLD", CRYSTAL'S VOICE REFLECTS HER MATURITY AND HER CONSISTENT RANGE AND VOCAL TALENT. I PRACTICALLY LISTEN TO ALL OF MY C LEWIS ALBUMS ON A DAILY BASIS TO INSPIRE ME SPIRITUALLY. IT REALLY IS A BLESSING TO HEAR A VOICE THAT CAN GET YOUR DAY GOING ON A POSITIVE "NOTE".
