Gloomy Daydreaming Music at its Finest...,
By hadaverde (WA, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Beauty & Bitterness (Audio CD)
This CD in its entirety evokes an image of the drizzly grey autumn afternoons so common in the band's native Seattle. The atmosphere of the album fits nicely into the ethereal-gothic niche, without ever approaching cliche territory. Fans of the genre may notice vocal similarities to Love Spirals Downwards and lovesliescrushing, and may draw comparisons music-wise, depending upon the track, to Cocteau Twins, Human Drama, and The Cure."Beauty and Bitterness" is the perfect soundtrack by which to pursue creative endeavors, while away a rainy day, or settle into bed at night. If you're a fan of ethereal music or female vocalists, this album is a must-have. |
