Like the green glasses in THE WIZARD OF OZ that distort people's view of the Emerald City, our culture and our past hurts distort our concept of beauty and our image of ourselves. Nancy Stafford's book gently lifts that false image and replaces it with timeless, eternal truths. Written with humor, warmth, compassion and vulnerability, this book will bring hope and healing to all who read it. I can't think of anyone who wouldn't gain from what is written on these pages.

I am not a Christian, but I found much to identify with as a woman in Beauty by the Book. This is a must-read for women of all faiths -- for any and all women who ever asked: Am I pretty enough? Am I smart enough? Am I good enough? Nancy Stafford shows us that the answer is a resounding YES once we learn to look beyond the exterior face and body the world sees, and focus on the inner beauty that lies within each and every one of us.

I heard Nancy speak on Focus on the Family and I immediately identified with her. I have struggled for many years with many of the same issues that Nancy discusses with such honesty in this book. I've come to realize that I'm not alone and that these types of struggles can be overcome. I appreciate Nancy's honesty and transparency about her own struggles. I still have a long way to go, but this book has given me hope that there IS light at the end of the tunnel. This book is for any woman who has ever struggled with these types of issues. This book touched me deeply and I cried many times as I read. A life changing and powerful book.

As a young Christian actress in Los Angeles, I too struggle with many of the self-worth issues that Nancy addresses in this wonderful book. I found immense healing and hope in this book. Nancy's honesty draws you nearer to her story and her struggles. Her hope sheds light on a topic so often "swept under the rug," even by women. This book is not only for actors, it is for all women. I am sending a copy to all of the women in my life.

So much pain and bitterness from my past has blocked me getting very far in my Christian walk. There's much to let go of and so much to lay on the altar. After reading your book, I believe I can with His help. My heart is lighter than it's been in years. There was so much you wrote that I was able to connect with.... from families that were "different" than the others, to hatred for my body, to not appreciating my uniqueness, to feelings of unworthiness..... all this garbage was playing over and over again and kept me from being the daughter He created me to be. Wow. Thanks so much for hearing and obeying in the writing of this book!

I am currently a senior in college and before I left for this semester of school, my mom handed me the book to read. As I read the book, I saw so many applications to my life in college. One of the main areas I could see the application of this book was in my sorority. Needless to say, it's a place where outer beauty is more often valued over inner beauty. Last year I started a Biblical discussion group in my sorority and I thought that your book would be a great place to start for topics this semester. So I have been using the book for the past 5 weeks or so in my discussion group along with the online Bible Study.
The conversations that have come out of this series have been unbelievable. So many young women want to talk about this topic! The intertwining of the essense of beauty with the truth of the Bible in this book is great. I just think that the book provides a wonderful bridge between women who are trying to figure out what words like faith and spirituality mean for them and the truths of the Bible. It makes the Christian life so applicable to people who are seeking God! Thank you Nancy for sharing your story and your resources with me and let you know the powerful impact that your book is having for the Kingdom of God.

Nancy Stafford took her heart and spread it on the pages of this book like fine jelly on fresh baked bread. Her purpose for this costly act was to feed truth to those who boldly take her up on this tasty offer. She knows what it feels like to be rejected based on looks. She also has felt the pressure of being accepted just on what is on the outside. Nancy Stafford can speak on this subject with authority because she has paid the price and bore the scares. I invite you to come and sit at her kitchen table to eat the fruit of her life.

Her story is laced with truth, wisdom, understanding and raw emotions. If you have ever struggled about how to be a woman of excellence in this society, this book will serve as the key that you have been looking for to unlock the volt on your heart. It will release you to love God for who He has created you to be. My prayer for you to see your beauty from God's perspective. Believe me when I tell you that perspective is everything! Her chapter "What are you doing?" sure addressed my guilty feelings of taking time for myself. Most of us feel guilty if we are not busy every minute of the day and night. Pour yourself a glass of iced tea, pick up Nancy's book and see yourself as God sees you--remember you were created in God's image and He doesn't make junk!

I am an actress as well and was raised in the suburbs
of L.A. in a Catholic home. I have always tried to
spiritually turn my insecurities of body and self over
to the care of God, but many times I have let my own
will get in the way.

Your book concisely laid out wonderful prayers and
scripture references to be used in circumstances that
quite commonly occur in our daily lives as women.

I appreciate the fact that someone who knows the
"Industry" is so grounded spiritually in Christianity
and has been able to maintain it and still be
successful as an actress.

Your book and prayers have become part of my morning
meditation and prayer time and I appreciate the fact
that I had the opportunity to read your book.
