This is a warm and wonderful tour of a vanishing southern tradition, the old-timey beauty shop. the fine writing overflows with humor, but not the kind that is usually directed at the south. the author clearly has great affection for her subject, and the women she interviewed for the book. the photographs are spectacular and witty as well. any woman, southern or no, would love this book.
