5.0 out of 5 stars This really deserves 6 stars., January 4, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Beauty Is In The Eyes Of The Beerholder (MP3 Download)
I can't believe 1. no one has reviewed this yet [posted a review/ critique/ opinion of it], and that 2. it took sooo darn long for Amazon to get it on here. (I called them months ago to tell them to get with it & get their songs posted, but I guess a record label had to sign them & endorse them 1st?) You can find the words easily, and yoUtube even has a vid with the words on a black screen like a chalkboard, but we all know watching music & videos there is the most dangerous activity one can do with a PC, even with a firewall installed (& a/v), b/c it uses Java+Flash (per my PC security class instructor)-- & it's true, I know , b/c I got 2 or 3 infections doing so, having 2 a/v, & using 4 firewalls.
I consider this the best of their songs. You will love it even you don't like screamo. The words are very deep. The best part is the interlude in the middle where the guy's heavenly voice says, "It's not as if theirs any other fish in the sea, (repeat), No one othe than you." Wow. Now that's intense. The whole song is like an Anthem. It grabs you like Teen Spirit when it was first released by Nirvana, nut more intense. This is how I'd describe these guys: intense, and also beautiful, creative, & raw. The band had a few downloads at their website (more expensive I think) a few months ago, but I was scared to use that Snowcap service they subscribed to get the song, so my luck went well, waiting for it to be available on here. Getting this song will not only make your week, but will liven up your whole month on cloud 9. The other cool part of the song is another different interlude with drumsticks in the background & a croud singing "Don't drink in bars, Parked cars cause population." Then it's, "There's so much oxygen that I forgot to breathe." He says it again, and you are in heaven on earth. Sheer musical genius. It's about time. Woo-Hoo! Longlive ISMFOF.
They need some music awards, seriously. It's about time for some (more) acknowledgement of this genre that I never even cared that much for. I think they were mentioned during the Superbowl, a google search told me. They made it all on some equipment in their bedroom at home, at one of the guys' house, and put some videos of themselves on you tube & played at some local, small alternative genre places in FL. Strictly word of mouth, because they are so good, that they were mentined on national tv- - during the superbowl even.
This isn't just a couple of kids messing around (even though it is)-- their work has depth & meaning & is anything but monotonous. It's so much better and more. This song endows hope & feeling of a wide variety: rage, remorse, outrage ("just because i've ordered doesn't mean i can't look at the menu!" and "you can take the road down my sleeve" (if you don't like this song), poverty, solidarity, everyday experiences, but hope most of all. Each song is unique. They are up their with Moby as far as creativeness goes.
Oh ya, and that horned dolphin on the cover is called a narwhal. These guys are smart AND creative and talented. A live show would be awesome, with either Armor For Sleep (even though they are nothing alike) or with Taking Back Sunday. I would join their Street Crew to promote them for concerts, if they had one. I don't think they do, or have plans to tour? But I hope so. AND I hope Amazons lets us know by PUTTING IT ON THEIR page of them here.
Thanks for listening, and also to Google, who owns Youtube, even though dangerous to use, for without which this could never have happened (or this song be on here for download, if not fpr that advertising of their sample tracks). Thanks A-Z 4 listening 2 buyers' suggestions.
