5.0 out of 5 stars steve diet goedde- the beauty of fetish
the beauty of fetish is a colorful fixation on the female form. each picture captures a private moment of sexual individuality, the charms of 6 inch heels, the caress of warm latex, the cinch of a corset. you will not find grim bondage shots, or overly propped scenes. this is an artistic view upon heavenly creatures, forever captured for erotic history. if you like...

3.0 out of 5 stars Fetish Fever Falling Flat on its Face
The cover of the book is far more powerful than the actual content, which is rather tame and evasive. Steve Diet Goedde manages to drag down Fetish to a mundane, almost evasive level. Some images are interesting, and the overall presentation good, but the models appear like unhappy housewives or spinsters. They allude to loneliness and boredom rather than mystery...

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible Collection, November 16, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Beauty of Fetish (Hardcover)
An Incredible collection of luscious photographs, celebrating the female form in latex, rubber, heels, fishnet and more. Every page begs to be fantasized about. This is a coffee table book on fetish you could let your relatives see, it is so beautiful and tasteful, and yet excitement drips from every image. With thoughtful text by Fetish Diva Midori (who is also one of the models).

5.0 out of 5 stars More than fetish, December 5, 2001

Goedde does not attemt to be a "fetish photographer." He is simply a good photographer who occationally shoots photos that can be considered "fetish." These pictures are full of atmosphere and life, and will draw you in if you let them. Do not be fooled by the title, but be pleasantly surprised by the beauty within.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bring photography back to a superior art form!, April 18, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Beauty of Fetish (Hardcover)
I learned of Steve's book while my husband and I were becoming entranced with his photo's of Mistress Midori(Lady in Cat Suit possing at the Palace of fine arts in San Francisco). He refered me to his book and said a few of the key shots were going to be in there. So, we bought it and the book was all and more we imagened. I feel anyone who loves art and has a passion for a visioary who obviously loves what he does and has the eye to get the shots he did for this book, should get up run to a book store and BUY IT!!!... I highly recommend this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars A True Classic, June 27, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: The Beauty of Fetish (Hardcover)
My favorite photography book of all time! When I first picked up "The Beauty of Fetish" two years ago, I admit I was somewhat disappointed. With erotic photography, I always expect the obvious. And when I didn't get the obvious right away, I dismissed the work despite it's high photography standards.

But then, images from the book kept popping up in my mind as if recalling vague moments from a dream. I went back and got my copy off of my shelf, and at that point "I got it!" I was completely floored by what I saw. I felt an amazing closeness to the photographs as if they were photographs of real people from my life. The models in Goedde's work are not mere mannequins for the sake of wearing fetish gear. They are real people and their personalities show through. In addition to that, the photography has a simple honest quality which makes the work even more erotic and real. These models are accessible, not like the standard strike-a-pose, cookie-cutter models you see in most fashion books.

Goedde is a master of blinding subtlety. His images will stick in my consciousness for years to come. He's a deserving successor to Helmut Newton without a doubt.

5.0 out of 5 stars A masterpiece, March 25, 2003

For those uncertain or unfamiliar with such subject matter, I offer this: "This is a book of beautiful photographs of beautiful women in exotic and strange attire."

For everyone else, I need not preach to the choir. You know what to expect from Goedde and he delivers. This is a classy and well designed book containing beautiful erotic imagery.

An excellent first book for anyone new to such things, whether interested in the lifestyle or simply because the clothing is lovely and evocative.

The cover of the book is far more powerful than the actual content, which is rather tame and evasive. Steve Diet Goedde manages to drag down Fetish to a mundane, almost evasive level. Some images are interesting, and the overall presentation good, but the models appear like unhappy housewives or spinsters. They allude to loneliness and boredom rather than mystery and excitement. I simply expected more from this book, especially after reading the "all-praising" reviews. A few pictures are skillfully composed, but the overall effect comes well short of indulging the reader in the fascinating world of Fetish.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Have For Fine Art Fetish Fans, November 23, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Beauty of Fetish (Hardcover)
As an aspiring photographer I want to give him one star out of pure jealousy. But I can't. I have an affinity for photographers. I mean ones who actually USE FILM. Because I don't think you can't get shots like this with digital ( yet, give it a couple more years) especially in natural light. (I have seen his work up close and personal, $2,000 silver prints, at The Dirty Show in Detroit- so this book, even with the mark up, is a steal). Goedde has an eye that is definitely his own, and sees things that other people wouldn't, which is probably the best definition of a great photog. You really don't have to be into kink to appreciate this work, but it does help. Amazing models, made all the better someone who knows how to make them look their best. Some of the hottest shots in the book, don't even have a hint of nudity, but they do have an underlying eros that screams. I'm somewhat surprised Goedde isn't shooting for high dollar fashion mags, because he seems to be the Big Note Songbook enough of their shooters have been borrowing from. How do you pronounce his name.

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly erotic, April 8, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Beauty of Fetish (Hardcover)
This book is amazing! In my opinion, Steve Diet Goedde is the only true successor to Helmut Newton. What makes his work stand out is his intellectual and honest approach towards alternative sexuality. Unlike other photographers in the fetish world whose images rely on subject matter, Goedde's images are powerfully artistic. He replaces the explicit with an ethereal romance while retaining the sexuality of his subjects. Plus, he has a sense of the actual art of photography which is rare in the fetish mainstream. His images will stick in our collective cranium for years to come.
