This is Diane Kidman's second book I've purchased. Love it! Easy and fun read, simple recipes and techniques, accessible ingredients! Loving the homemade moisturizer - olive oil isn't just for salad dressing! Highly recommend it to anyone interesting in making their own products, staying away from unnecessary chemicals and additives!

5.0 out of 5 stars THE must-read book on natural hair beauty April 19, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
This is the book that you have book looking for.

A true testament that salon managed hair is not the best managed hair. I gave up sulfates and parabens two years ago, along with hair sprays, goos, gels, dryers, and straighteners. I just recently realized that all i needed was a good conditioner without alcohol or any other ingredient that I could not pronounce. This e-book takes my hair care, adds suggestions, herbs and natural oils -- and moves hair care to an all new natural level.
For the new no poo -- no sulfate -- no paraben -- no chemical consumer -- I can confirm the author's claims by giving my experience.

Two and a half years ago, I had thin, fine, dried out, straw-like hair with split ends that chased my hair grow about 4 to 1. My hair did not only refuse to grow, but continued to get shorter and shorter. I spent thousands of dollars a year on color, cuts, expensive hair shampoos, conditioners --- to the point that i purchased clip in hair strands to give my hair volume.

I read online about sulfates, parabens, chemicals in hair products, and the no poo trend. I switched to sulfate free & paraben free products, alchohol free conditioner, Naturtint hair color for roots, stopped drying, stopped straightening, and stopped having hair cuts. (not that the last one was recommended -- but my last haircut resembled a mullet, so I was afraid, to say the least.) It took two or three months before i noticed a real difference. Then other people noticed. My hair became shiny, thicker, and grew approximately 7" in one year. I started getting compliments for the first time since I was a teenager on my hair. (I am 50.) I finally went to a salon for a trim and style (and brought my own conditioner -- no blow dry ofcouse). The hair dresser asked me how long it had been since my last cut. i told her two and 1/2 years. She looked at me, confused, and said, "no, i mean just a trim." I answered again, 2 1/2 years. She said, "You do not have one split end." She was careful about my age. She said, "Your hair is so thick and shiny. It's fine, but you have so much of it. That's rare as women get older." She then trimmed it nearly 1" in the back to erase any remains of the disastrous mullet. For the first time since I was 18, I love my long, wavy, shiny hair.

Now -- since I have read this book, I have kicked up a notch. I am ready to take my hair to the next level. Diane goes back to nature with a focus on your wallet for the best hair care available. My testament is that everything in this books works -- no gimmicks -- the only affordable, all natural way to have the beautiful hair that is within your reach.

3.0 out of 5 stars ok for some areas of the country, not in the desert.
Most of the herbs listed are not available around here, so I couldn't get to try much of the ideas in the book.
