MeRa's allegories describe the shame, loneliness and pain that I have felt, yet was unable to express...she also shows us the creative side of a loving and gentle God. I was moved by her first chapter where Jesus enters her dungeon of shame and darkness...and sits with her. Too many times we are told "it's time to move on" or "get over it". MeRa understands and writes about the depth of darkness I have felt and through sharing her pain restores faith and healing to any shattered heart. A beautiful book of hope and courage for anyone who has suffered sexual brokenness or loss. Thank you for being so real!

i am aquainted with date rape only to the extent that a friend of mine had experienced it. it was difficult knowing how to be a friend and support. but i must say that to start such a journey with a friend takes patience and a lot of openness to staying quiet when you want to speak and being open to learning a whole new language of communication. i honor Me Ra Koh for her ability to not only to be vulnerable and honest with us as her reading audience, but for her ability to be vividly creative with her imagery. reading this has helped me in looking back at how i may have done a better job or was somehow, mysteriously doing something right in a situation that seemed entirely un"restorable."

It is a big step for a Christian publisher to be talking about a subject which has too often been ignored --date rape. This book, which tells of Me Ra's personal story of abuse and restoration, will be healing, informing and encouraging to anyone who has been on either side of sexual abuse. It is also a must-read for anyone planning on being involved in any kind of pastoral ministry (which, in a sense, is every person) --for we see and talk to people everyday who have gone through painful sexual experiences, yet we can hardly imagine how many actually have. While Me Ra's story is intimately tied to her Christian faith, it is accessible to all mature readers. Way to go Me Ra for sharing with us your heart and your story of hope! May this type of courage and vulnerability continue to be shown by Christians.

Beauty Restored is such a must for anyone that has experienced date rape or rape. Reading the authors own story will help you understand yourself and how the Lord can help you . What a brave young lady to want to help others through her own pain.

I didn't know Me Ra was an author until I met her. She would mention date rape as someone talking about when they first became engaged to their husband: with reverence to a difficult time in her life, but with emotional ease that only someone whom had dealt with great trauma and had overcome could do. To know her in person is to become exceedingly aware that she has no inner demons. That she has gone through great pain, vulnerability, degradation and hardship is true, but she bears no scars. People that have experienced trauma usually have "issues" remaining. To meet her is to become acutely aware that she doesn't have any "issues" because she has dealt with the grief associated with the rape, in all its forms. She is my role model for overcoming, and becoming whole.

When I see her, I can only think to myself of mirroring her restorative process. If she could endure and become well again, then I want to follow the same path she took in my personal emotional healing.

This book is her story. I use it as an example for my life. The One Way is God, and she will show you why. When all others make you question humanity, you're left with nothing to believe in; for humanity can bring much destruction on the individual. God's way is a path of hope and belief, of restoration. Read and discover this for yourself.

Also, Me Ra mentions this in the introduction, but this book is for the male audience as well as the female.

It is inevitable that everyone encounters obstacles and experiences tragedy in life, after reading this book you realize that the tragedy or obstacle is not what is important but what you do about it. Broken dreams must be restored, we must find hope and strength to fight through hard times and triumph. As you read through this book you experience the writers pain, tragedy, suffering, and most of all triumph and victory. Most people go through life not realizing how powerful certain events can be in shaping their lives by ignoring them and choosing not to face them and resolve them, this book shows a woman who not only faced and resolved a tragic event in her life but how she used it to reach people and give them hope when dealing with tragedy. I suggest that whether you are a woman dealing with date rape or someone that hasn't let go or faced their tragedy and hurt.

Although this book is helpful and encouraging, it is not a how to book. Me Ra Koh uses allegories to show us where God is in her process of recovery... Her pictures of Jesus are beautiful. I feel this book can be an encouragement to anyone who is suffering deep pain in their lives and are struggling towards wholeness.

Where to begin? This book is amazing, it put into words the things so many women want to say but just can't. It has brought forth healing in my life as well as the lives of so many other young ladies I work with! I am so thankful that Me Ra Koh chose to use this painful part of her life to bring restoration to so many others.

I am a survivor of rape also. While I admire Me Rah's courage for putting her story to paper I could not asssociate with her much at all. This is a book based primarily or religion and how her religion was a curse and cure for her to get better. I recommend the book for people who have religious connections and those willing to look at thier assalt and recovery through religion...or those willing to view Me Rah's accounts without religious prejudice.
