Mya has returned,

The album is better than I expected. Some songs I already knew of... "Blackout", "$ Can't Buy My Love", "Boss", "About My B.I." and "The Only One" (which was redone).
But believe me...this is a very honest mixtape and it brings together wonderful elements of Mya's artistry. She is very versatile in her vocal delivery and she sings with such wonderful sass it's great. The beginning of the album may be a bit much for some...those who are not used to Mya being as hood...with the Hip-Hop influenced anthems but as the album progresses into more R&B type songs even mixing other genres such as the rock inspired "Control Freak" it is clear that this is not your average mixtape. My standout favourites include: "I'm Back" a good way to reintroduce herself while addressing the typical haters. "About My B.I." "Boss" "Ponytail" a wonderful female anthem with up and coming rapper Nicki Minaj "Control Freak" the most cross over appeal track in my opinion. Mya is very decisive in being the woman in control. Love, love the rock flavoured song. I could see a video for this. "Club Go Crazy" this would be a wonderful way to reintroduce Mya, the dancer. Very uptempo featuring Chamillionaire. I could see Mya tearing up on this. "Manaholic". A very smart track and executed well in true Mya style. I love how this song is done from start to finish. "Go hard or Go Home". Mya sounds great!! Her vocal growth is most evident here. At 4:50 you hear a wonderful whistle register. Mya's voice now is controlled, confident and masterful in delivery of her sound. "Blackout" though we heard this before and it was suggested for Rihanna, I hoped Mya would've kept it for herself as Rihanna lacks the swagger for that type of song. Mya did well. Worthy mentions...smooth R&B jam "Work It Out" and tongue in cheek "Now or Lata". The album could have done without recycled "$ Can't Buy Me Love" from the "Sugar and Spice" sessions and admittedly "Show Me Something" while decent shouldn't have been a single at all. What I love about the album though...it is not 100% gutter...what it is is 100% real and raw because it considered "Explicit" but believe me this is a solid effort from Mya. I am impressed and dying to see what else she has in her arsenal. She seems to have managed to find a good source of underground producers that work with her sound. Her going independent has not lessened the appeal of MYA MUSIC. It is now stronger than ever. I am looking for the Studio album. From slow jams to uptempos, "Beauty & The Streets" is rated GREAT by me.

WOW!!!,
This review is from: Beauty In The Streets [Explicit] (MP3 Download)
From this I was like WOW!!! I feel she should be doing a lot of writing for other artist. Some of these songs could have been very huge for other artist. I like the whole CD. It is pretty consistent in content.
Great Writing, to bad the music industry does not have room to appreciate this work that she did.

Mya never dissapoints me! The mixture of hardcore beats an her sweet sensual vocals make this mixtape a must buy! Her voice on some tracks was a little too soft an I had a hard time understanding everything she said an the rappers southern slang was hard to understand at times but all in all it was a great mixtape to have your trunk rattling for dayz!

Mya puts the body out-front like most guys like; And then she sings like the wonderful pro that exspected of her. My only problem with this album, is that I can't find videos on TV. I think Mya covers a lot of the issues of today's women and young men and should be better supported. She a vateran singer and is not getting the air-play she diserves.

This cd is so good its worth being an actual album; who needs a mix tape with material this good. Mya sounds very in control of her own destiny on this 15 track set. The songs come off as mature, sexy and sassy. 9 of the 15 tracks feature guests, like Slim Thug, Bun B and Zro, but she honestly doesn't need them.
- Album Highlights: Control Freak f. Gator Mane (5/5 song has a killer rock riff for the beat) - I'm Back f. Slim Thug (5/5 song title says it all Mya is back!) - Club go Crazy (5/5 Mya would command the attention of the club with this track.I could see me and my girls going crazy when this track comes on.) - Ponytail (4/5 playful and sexy) - Now or Lata f. Blo Pop (4/5 sassy and a great track to sing a long to) - The mixtape only looses steam towards the end with songs like "The only one and "Black out" Overall this is a fun listening experience, it'll leave you eager for her official return.

I got to tell you; I'am NOT into hip-hop but this fantastic album has made me stand up and REALLY take notice!!!! This album is FIIIIIRRRRRREEEEE!!!!! MYA PUT IT DOWN!!! YOU will not be disappointed and interestingly enough there is something inspirational and motivational as she reveals what she's been through in life and in this industry. I get the STRONG feeling someone tried to sabotage her career and I have an idea who. Because MYA is a major talent no matter what you say; it's a fact!! She keeps coming back with quality and I get the feeling this is JUST what was needed at this time!!! Take note cd was sold out when I went to get it! Great from start to finish and NO I'am NOT a groupie!!!! No need to fast-forward!!!! LOLOLOLOL

Fire.....Best Album in a While by a female,
By
This review is from: Beauty In The Streets [Explicit] (MP3 Download)
Mya is back and this by far her best. It should've been an album, or should I say it the type of album the we've been waiting for. Album quality with that rugged raw feel. It's crazy. "I'm back" and "About My B.I." are kool tracks, they kind of have a down south feel, which is heavy right now. Although they aren't my favs. "Boss" is a crazy track with an old school feel but it's decent. "Ponytail" is a ladies anthem and Nikki brings her part, the sound of it makes you want to hear more it. "$$ Can't Buy My Love" has a sunny day feel to it...I like to cruise to this song. Control freak also has an ol' skool feel to it which i really like. Mya is expanding her vocals and experimenting with a variety of different genres and sounds, and it works for her. I absolutely love it. "Club Go Crazy" I do not like it maybe bacuse of Chamillionaire, I'm not sure why it doesn't work for me. Manaholic.....yes, this song is fire it makes you shiver and tingle and just want to move. "Go Hard or Go Home" is a good song, a lot of ppl can relate to it, it is a very good track one my favorites. "Full service" might be top favorite. I love this song, Mya ran this song. The "Only One", there are 2 versions of this song. They are both crazy. the newer one sounds better with the song, but the older one has a soothing beat that entices you. "Work it out" and "Blackout" are also very good tracks. Hr version is better than Rihanna's she gave it power and sass. This album is incredible I told everyone I know about it. Go Get it if you haven't got it already...She needs videos, she should treat it like an album. Heard it once and immediately purchases it from Itunes. Now im mad cuz my ipod is stolen and i can listen to it in the car like i used to...
