A Kid's Review
This review is from: Beauty: Things to Make and Do (Crafty Girl) (Paperback)
I was given the Crafty Girl Beauty book for Christmas. Since then, I have used it so much. I bring it to slumber parties, and it is a HUGE hit. I strongly disagree with the suggested age group. It is great for teens. I have friends who are quite a bit older than I am. My two friends,...are fourteen and fifteen and they love my book. When they invite me over, they always tell me to remember Crafty Girl Beauty. I told you how my friends all love it, but best of all, I love it.Crafty Girl shows you how to make everything. My favortie part is the WONDERFUL illustrations. They are stylish and modern, and very cute. I am happy to say I have tried all of the recipes not one was unsatisfactory. If you are into arts and crafts, makeup and body care, you have gotto purchase this book. It will be one of the best things that ever happened to you!

I just recently bought this book and haven't had much time to try a lot of stuff in it just yet, but those that I have tried have proved to be very cool. this book offers such nifty ideas that I never would have thought of trying on my own. who knew you could make your own lotion or facial astringent?? wow. The step by step instructions are incredibly easy to follow and it even includes info on where to get your ingredients. There are also clever ideas for "spa days" and different drinks you could sip while you're relaxing in the tub. : )

A friend bought me this book as a gift and I LOVE IT! Of course, not until now (while reading the online reviews for it) did it click that the book is for pre-teens and teens. Well guess what... This mid-twenties crafy girl loves it just as much! It's super fun, and the "recipes" range from easy to hard. They are great for "spa nights" with girlfriends or if you're at home alone and want to do something fun and relaxing. If I'm cooking and only have to use one part of an egg for the recipe, I can use the other half for either my skin or hair (egg white=face mask, egg yolk=hair conditioner). So, if you're a crafty girl yourself or are looking for a gift for a girly crafty girl, I'd highly reccomend this book.

This is a really cool book with lots of ideas, I used it for my birthday party along with the Slumber Parties book by Jennifer Traig. It is an awesome book! I suggest getting it from the library first though.

Perfect for the pre-teen or early teen. Parental supervision is required on some things, but overall it's a fun book and a great gift.

Useless Waste of Money,
By StarGymnast (California, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Beauty: Things to Make and Do (Crafty Girl) (Paperback)
I hate the Crafty Girl books, because all of them have "ideas" that you can easily get anywhere else for cheaper, there are no clear directions or even pictures of the projects/crafts, and they're expensively priced for such a bad book. This book speaks for itself- it has homemade beauty recipies that you can try out on yourself, friends, etc. The book would have been okay if the ideas were actually ORIGINAL, but they are all things that you can find it other beauty books, such as avacado face masks and such. Other books are LOADED with these ideas and suggestions, but this one, in a useless money-making scheme, tries to get girls to waste their money on it. The size and structure of the book is also annoying, as you can't even easily lay it open if you're trying to read and your hands are all covered with gross stuff to make the projects. It's also hard to find exactly what you're looking for in the book, becasue the print is so small and the table of contents is unclear. Definitely not reccomended and a big waste of money.
