Customer Questions & Answers

Customer Reviews

This is a highly recommended makeup tool that everyone must have.

It's easier to work the sponge into a lather, and now that I know this, one bottle will probably last me two years even though I wash the sponge every time I use it.

When using this to apply your foundation it gives it a flawless, airbrushed finish/look.

I am a licensed cosmetologist in California. I've been through MANY brushes and sponges of all kinds to get a flawless foundation application. So far NOTHING has come close to this amazing "Beautyblender" sponge. The super-fine texture makes sure you don't get uneven coverage yet allows for a flawless finish. This does not let your foundation cake into the fine-lines, or deep lines, as other applicators do. I have tried using a 'Smashbox' foundation for over a year (determined to apply it professionally) and the brush that came with it never came close to second against this sponge! The foundation is now a professional airbrushed look because of this sponge. I am elated and very glad I discovered and picked up the double pack of this sponge - I will NEVER apply foundation without it again. I use my 'Philosophy' Cleanser and the sponge cleanes out phenomenally. Make sure you wash it after each application and allow it to air-dry so no bacteria will build up.

*Hint: don't try to cover all your imperfections in one go. Allow the first light application to dry, then apply another thin layer over the trouble areas. This makes for a more realistic coverage.

Although as a makeup artist, I have been used to using some of the best products on the market, I am also a skeptic when it comes to shelling out high amounts of money to buy the latest thing that is causing a huge stir. I tend to sit back and wait before jumping on the band wagon for most things when it comes to beauty.

One of the things I avoided was buying the Beauty Blender. I had makeup sponges, brushes, and many other methods of application down under my belt, so I did not feel that I needed to pay such a high price for such a small item.

Finally, I had a chance to try out a set of two Beauty Blenders, and was surprised to find that if I had been told several things about them to begin with, I would have purchased one sooner.

HOW TO USE A BEAUTY BLENDER

-First of all, a Beauty Blender is not a conventional makeup sponge. When you put it in water, it swells up a lot bigger than it is when dry.

-Once it is wet, you squeeze out the water and then make sure that the sponge is damp.

-With the damp sponge, you carefully tap the side of the sponge that you want to use (broad for large spots and narrow for narrow areas) and you bounce the sponge off of your skin quickly and making sure that you cover a lot of area before reloading the sponge, you cover your face with makeup.

-IT WILL OFTEN LOOK LIKE YOU ARE NOT APPLYING ENOUGH- resist the temptation to apply too much.

-With the tip of the sponge, blend the areas around the nose and inner eye, etc, well but lightly.

You can also use this for cream blush and cream eyeshadow if you like(using the tip), but remember, you have to wash the sponge in between or you will get muddy makeup.

I suspected these were fake when I bought them from this amazon seller months ago (as I had bought previous Beauty Blenders direct from the company and these felt different). Over the Thanksgiving holiday I bought two from the Sephora store and my suspicions were confirmed.

How I know the ones i bought from this amazon seller are fake: the texture, the length of time they last (one or two months whereas the real ones I had bought previously lasted 6 months each. These fakes actually broke on me which the real ones did not do), the fact that they don't stand up at the base the way real ones do, the fact that they don't expand as much as the real ones do. Buyers beware.

I have photographic evidence and kept a fake as well. So I can back up my claims

From the cover and box, this looks like the real thing. But when you wash it, you'd feel that the density is different, the pink colour runs and the texture of the sponge is more 'furry'-looking. My original BeautyBlender that I got from Sephora is less dense, more pointed at the tip and the colour NEVER runs while washing. Too cheap to be true!

I was suspicious after reading some of these reviews so I thought I'd do some research.

First, I sent the seller a message asking about their return policy, because it sounded like some people were getting counterfeit products, but possibly not all - maybe they had multiple suppliers. But if I was going to take that risk, I wanted to know what my options were. The response was something like, oh yeah people have been saying that but I don't know why! She expressed confusion as to why someone would sell fake sponges (um, maybe because they're expensive and it's easy to manufacture something cheap that looks similar, for a huge profit?) So that was kind of a red flag, felt a little manipulative - like they were trying to imply it's crazy to be skeptical of them. I've dealt with con artists before and "that's ridiculous, of course you can trust me!" is the oldest trick in the book.

Second, when I loaded it in my cart, I noticed the brand name was Silenz instead of beautyblender. Only when it was in the cart, for some reason. I called beautyblender customer service to ask them if Silenz is an umbrella company or somehow affiliated with them. I was told under no uncertain terms that there are NO authorized sellers of beautyblender on Amazon. At all.

Maybe some of these Amazon stores are selling real products, but without official authorization. I am highly skeptical, however, and not really interested in taking that risk.
