well....it has a sexy cover., August 7, 2005
This review is from: Beauty's Only Skin Deep (Audio CD)
As a HUGE Runaways fan, I couldn't wait to get this CD in the mail.
A word of advice: This is not Runaways music. It's a totally different genre, a different world. No guitar hooks or hot leads. No fantastic rhythm. No pounding drums. No wailing vocals, no screams.
Soft, sexy vocal. Smooth, lite pop. It's just not what I expected, as I am a new Runaways fan, and have been catching up on what I missed. Fans of "Strawberry Fields" on "Flaming Schoolgirls" will probably enjoy this CD, as it's pretty much all in that vain.

Cherie Currie The Voice, December 8, 2009
Cherie Currie was/is and will be an icon of rock and roll since she was part of the legendary band "The Runaways"
She has continued recording all over these years. This is one of her first solo albums around the 70's. It's obvious the music is quite different from The Runaways era.
We discover the most melodic side of Cherie. Her voice it's a speciall one, not common, nostalgic, a kind of romantic, deep, convincing, powerfull
I highly recommend this and all Cherie albums to those who are looking for something different.

Worth the wait--a wonderfully spacey pop-rock gem..., July 28, 2005
This review is from: Beauty's Only Skin Deep (Audio CD)
Former Runaways vocalist Cherie Currie came on like David Bowie's little sister: platinum-white feathered shag, exotic make-up, platform KISS boots. Under the musical guidance of eccentric producer Kim Fowley, "Beauty" features one-of-a-kind tracks like "Science Fiction Daze" and the title cut (where co-writer Cherie reminds us she was "born beautiful"!). Gloppy production and some needless bubblegummers aside, the record is a lot of fun, with Cherie baiting the hooks as only a teenage rebel could do.
