From Library Journal
Urban terrorists launch a series of devastating attacks across France aimed at bringing down the government. The terrorists quickly move the country to the brink of disaster while bungling, plodding officialdom is unable to quell the tide of mayhem. Enter Afred Baum, a low-key, pipe-and-slippers, civil service intelligence officer who races against the clock to head off calamity. Kartun, author of The Courier , has assembled most of the ingredients for a first-rate thriller, but fails to provide first-rate characters, in particular an engaging hero. The terrorists have all the good lines and a corner on the action scenes. Mild entertainment suited to a slow day at the beach; recommended for large fiction collections.
