How can a movie based on Beavis and Butthead have a score as good as this? Considering that most of the music in the film consisted of rock music, the score that was featured was great. Listening to the score, you would probably never guess that it came from a comedy film, much less Beavis and Butthead. There is some thematic material present in the score, but none that reoccurs throughout. The score starts out with a humorously titled cue, "Buttkong." Here, the music is loud and powerful with powerful horns and pounding percussion. "Dying in the Desert" contains a wild west-like sound to it, while "Searching for the T.V." contains some whistling noises. "Beavis the Sperm" is a funny track with dancing pizzicato strings and "Judgorian Chant" (obviously named after the director and creator: Mike Judge) contains Gregorian chants in which you have no idea what is being said. "The Walk into the Sunset" is a nice choral finale to end the film. Other tracks such as "DEFCON 4" and "The Standoff" are military sounding in nature with brass and percussion. The last 2 tracks "Aunque La Mona" and "Mucha Muchacha" should have been left off because they in no way contribute or support the score and quite frankly are dumb tunes. In fact, "Mucha Muchacha" made me laugh because it is such a dumb song. The London Metropolitan Orchestra performs the music with sheer power and the front cover of the CD is pretty funny as well. This score is hard to find, but if you can track it down, get it.

The theme by Juan Esquivel cannot be left out, since is the cue for the second most enjoyed activity of B&B. There is no substitute for the laughs caused by the association between the theme and the activity the heroes are about to perform.

4.0 out of 5 stars No really, it's not bad., January 21, 2002

I saw a review of this on a soundtrack site once. I thought the reviewer must be mad:
1) to give it a good rating.
2) to review it at all.
Shortly after, I ran across a copy and decided to jump the cliff, and indeed, this is a good cliff to jump off of. If you like any of John Frizzell's other scores, you'll quite likely enjoy this too. Basically it's a lot of over-the-top cop show parody music. It has a lot of brass, and even a bit of choir here and there. All in all, anyone who's actually looking at this (and everyone else who likes Frizzell's scores) would do well to check out the sound samples. It's big. It's load. It's fun. It's worth a listen even you're a rabid hater of the show.

Beavis and Butt-Head. Legends. Icons. Musicians? I am 100% serious: This score rules (huh huh you said "score"). It is an awesome orchestra with supreme talent. "The Walk into the Sunset" is one of the most beautiful score tracks I have ever heard! Buy this if you ever get the chance!
