I have been very, very pleased with this monitor. We tried to add a 2nd camera to our old sfaety first video monitor but it would just not support two cameras even though it was suppose to. I researched and read tons of reviews on video monitors, quality of the image, portability, interference, etc. and finally decided on the BebeSounds 2 camera package. It has been excellent!

Positive:
The cameras are easy to use, swivel in any direction to get your image, can be attached to a wall instead of placed on a flat surface, seem to be sturdy, are light weight and run on an AC cord.

The monitor has an excellent quality picture image. I was afraid coming from the mini tv sized monitor with safety first that I would not like the smaller image but the quality and detail is so good I love being able to move it around and take it with us out of town. It can run on rechargeable batteries or the AC plug. You can watch just one room, just the other room, or set it to flip back every few seconds between rooms. Very easy to use. You can adjust the light on the camera from the monitor so if the image is too dark, or too bright, you can change it without going into the child's room. Sound is great. no interference with our wireless router or several cordless phones. Works throughout our home across 3 stories and into the yard.

Negative:
The monitor comes with 5 rechargeable batteries and only uses rechargeable batteries. It states this clearly in several places on the monitor. Despite that, someone in my family decided it was only a suggestion and put regular batteries in it and they overheated and actually leaked something that took the varnish off in a spot my end table. We generally use rechargeable batteries because not using them is too expensive for kids things so this was clearly user error, but anyone using it needs to know the red warning label inside the battery compartment is a requirement, not a suggestion. I also wish it used on 4 batteries because I can only charge 4 at a time on our charger and that 5th battery is an extra charging step. We rarely use it off the plug anyways so on a true hassle scale, it is pretty low. Compared to the overall quality of the equipment, I would buy this and recommend it again and again.

Does not have any intercom from the monitor back to the camera(s) - basically that sooth your baby by talking to him/her through the monitor. Our old system never had it, a friends system we borrowed did and I never used it, so to us it was not an issue. But if you want that feature, this system will not have it.

Overall - Love Love Love this system!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Exactly what I was looking for!!, April 17, 2008
This review is from: BebeSounds Portable Color Video and Sound Monitor with 2 Cameras (Baby Product)
The monitor works great. It has great range and clear picture. The night vision on the camera picks up great. I have been very satisfied with the reception, we pick up clear picture outside the house. I would recommend this product to anyone looking for video monitors.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works well & good night vision, June 27, 2007
Had this monitor for about a week. So far so good.

I like that the cameras can work on battery as well as A/C power. This allows me to put the cameras close to my son's bed without having a cable. The camera is rather large and requires a flat surface so can't be attached to a crib if you need that. The camera does have rather bright lights which is tempting for my son to investigate when he gets out of bed. I guess it needs to be somewhere out of reach.

Reception is quite OK - although the longest distance I require is about 40 feet. The 2.5 inch screen is better than I thought it would be. Perhaps the same size as a cell phone screen but that's actually turned out to be better viewing than I thought.

Night vision works pretty well. After having a previous camera with very poor night vision, this one is a quite satisfactory. Gives good images in darkness up to maybe 7 feet - and with a night light in the room can view 15 feet or so - long enough!

Only thing is that the camera can only work on battery power for perhaps 6-8 hours. I guess this is to be expected, but it means that you have to have rechargeable batteries and you have to recharge every day. Not a major problem.

4.0 out of 5 stars Third monitor we've tried, June 2, 2008
This review is from: BebeSounds Portable Color Video and Sound Monitor with 2 Cameras (Baby Product)
We are very happy with this monitor. We use it for two children whose rooms are about twenty feet apart, and it works well. My only complaint is that the picture is not as large as my old summer's infant single monitor. But, the summer infant doulbe monitor interferes with our wireless airport ... Bebe sounds does not!

Although we had a MobiCam video monitor, we wanted two things it didn't offer:

1. we wanted a second camera since we were having a second child.

2. we wanted a rechargeable monitor. The Mobi receivers can use batteries, but it won't charge rechargeable batteries with the AC adapter. You have to unscrew the case, remove the batteries, recharge and reinstall. Since the receivers will only last an hour or so with batteries, you are basically limited to only using the receiver plugged into the wall.

The Bebe system sounded appealing. It comes with two cameras and the receiver can plug in to charge included rechargeable batteries.

Although it had two features we really wanted, it simply was unusable. Image quality was horrible. It made a clicking sound randomly throughout the night. Our house is a perfectly average 1960's two-story. Maybe this would work in a 2BR apartment or a small ranch style, but if you actually can benefit from using a wireless monitor, I can't think of any reason you would want this model.

The best thing I can say is that at least it didn't work right out of the box, so that we could take it back without too any problems.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it!, October 9, 2008

We bought this monitor to replace our old Video monitor that broke with our first child. This monitor is by far, more superior! The camera is very small and sits easily on our window sill above our child's crib. The receiver is very small, easily 1/4 the size of our old video receiver that we bought at Babies R US in 2005. You could even put it in your pocket! The picture is crisp and clear. I love the fact that it can run on batteries for at least an hour (if not longer) as I have used the monitor while working out in the yard or in the detached garage during nap time. The sound is fine, however, my 2 year old dropped the monitor down a flight of wooden steps so the on/off/volume dial got pushed in a little and is now more difficult to control (you need to use your fingernails). Like any baby monitor, it can crackle if the sound is turned up too high, however, you just need to rotate its position on the counter and the sound usually disappears. The only negative I can see is that at dawn or dusk, the night vision shuts off and the regular light isn't bright enough, so the screen looks completely black and you can't see your child at all. This usually lasts only 20-30 minutes during these times. Other than that, I did A LOT of research because my monitor had to have a function to dim the brightness of the screen (vital at 2:00 am when you don't want your whole bedroom glowing from the light of the monitor), had to have a function to turn the video function off but allow the sound to keep working (why do you need to see your child while you sleep?), and have night vision to allow you to see your child in the pitch black (I can see her better with the monitor at night than if I went into her dark room and looked myself). Buy this monitor, it's worth every penny!

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't Waste Your Time or Money!, October 30, 2007

Mom of 2 (Lake Zurich, IL) - See all my reviews
This monitor comes with two cameras for less than a single camera model for most other brands. Sounds too good to be true-- it is!!! Poor picture and sound quality. Also, this does not light up when there is sound like every other monitor on the market. So, you have to keep the sound turned up to hear the baby/babies. The 8 second interval automatic switching feature is a joke. It clicks loudly between images. Not fun if you're keeping the unit at your bedside. Try sleeping through it. You can't. And... The picture is turned on and off by a little switch on the side of the unit. It's hard to get to, and you have to manually turn it on and off. A pain in the middle of the night.
I recommend the Summer Infant model, and you just have to buy an additional camera if you want it. It has lights so you can still "hear" with the sound way down. It has a large button on the top of the monitor that you can push to see the picture. If it's plugged in, you just push to turn on and push to turn off. It's like a snooze button. If it's running on batteries, the picture times out to save batteries if you forget to turn it off. Pretty nice. There is no auto-switch feature, but the channel switch on the side of the unit is easy to get to. What a better product!
I have purchased 2 products from Bebe Sounds this year (the monitor and the prenatal heart listener) and both have been junk. I won't try this company again! Spend a little more and get a quality product with Summer Infant!!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Well made, but very poor quality connection., July 8, 2010
This review is from: BebeSounds Portable Color Video and Sound Monitor with 2 Cameras (Baby Product)
We've use this monitor for about 4 months. Receiver was just on the other side of the wall from transmitter (2 feet away). The sound quality is very bad. The static sound is all we hear no matter how low or high the volume is. Also the video is always in and out, never constantly available, always squigly lines. Very disapointed. Will have to spend another $$$$ for another monitor.

This review is from: BebeSounds Portable Color Video and Sound Monitor with 2 Cameras (Baby Product)
We have owned 4 video monitors in 3 years and this was the worst! It seemed like a great idea since we just had our 2nd child. Unfortunately, after only one months use the video no longer works!!! I am trying to contact Amazon and the manufacturer to get a refund or exchange. Don't buy this product!!

Good news... Graco replaced this item for me 3 times already with no arguments due to problems with the unit. Bad news... we received this monitor as a gift since we were having twins, it made sense to have 2 cameras... well, the little sleep we were able to get was completely interrupted by the horrible static made by the monitor, in addition to the annoying click that the monitor makes when it switches screenshots from one camera to the other... also, the monitor did not work unless it was plugged in at all times, even with the batteries fully charged... finally, my most recent problem - and this occurred after having the 3rd and newest monitor for approx. 3-4 months - only one image would come through on the monitor, and the other image is just a black screen... I'm so fed up with this monitor, I don't even want to call Graco for a replacement... My husband and I are tired literally and figuratively from dealing with this monitor, raising twins, working, taking care of the house, and keeping up with life in general. It truly upsets me that companies that cater to families - i.e. Graco - don't realize this and make better quality products!!!
