my kids love sherry north's other books; we come back to them again and again. so of course i had to get "because you are my teacher" and it's also a real treat. my kids (age 4) love going on this journey! and i love how the story sets up the importance of teachers in kids' lives and shows the excitement of learning as a real adventure.
we purchased an extra copy as a holiday present for their pre-k teacher and the entire class has been enjoying the book.
This children's book is so beautiful. It is filled with fabulous excursions around the world that are sure to make children want to read it over and over. It also gives teachers the status of explorer, leader, and adventurer, which will make kids look at their teachers in a new light. It introduces children to some amazing locations, with spectacular illustrations from different perspectives and will be sure to provoke children's curiosity and desire to learn more about the world. I gave this book to an early childhood school director and she couldn't stop thanking me. She told me the teachers just loved it.
This is a great way to encourage the adventure of history and geography. It would be great for any teacher in a school or homeschool. The pictures are attractive to look at and there is a little mouse you can search for on every page. I think for me this is going to be a favorite to read again and again. To introduce a new topic bring it back as a reread and so on.
