I ordered this through Amazon and it was shipped from Patriot Supply. This is the second part I have received from Patriot Supply and they both arrived over night with standard shipping. The parts arrived before I got email notification they were shipped. The unit is a direct replacement for the old transformer on the Beckett burner. It is easy to install and comes with all the parts needed. It took me about 10-15 minutes to replace the transformer. Before starting, turn off the main power to the burner. The one thing you have to watch out for is the wire connection. It didn't matter on the old transformer, the wire connections were interchangable. The electronic unit must have the white wire connected to the house or burner common/ground, normally the white wire. The blue/white wire is connected to the power lead, normally the orange wire coming from the safety cut out. This is not mentioned in the instructions that come with the unit. A friend of mine that services burners told me anout it. Apparently if it isn't connected correctly, the unit will fail prematurely. I installed the unit because my old tranformer wasn't producing a hot enough spark to ignite the oil consistantly. Hopefully because this produces a hotter spark my problem will be solved.

Yes, you can use this to replace the old Franceformer 5LAY-04 Transformer/Igniter that sits on the 1996 and earlier Beckett Burners used in Thermo Pride systems. My system was a Thermo Pride system. I used the 51771U and possibly saved hundreds by 1. Doing it myself and 2. Buying this part instead of the old style. The local parts house wanted over $100.00 just for the old style replacement transformer. I bought the 51771U for under $50.00 and didn't have to wait for shipping or anything. I would advise not to attempt this if you are not that familiar with wiring or the dangers involved with this high output igniter. SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH COULD OCCUR. Please label this as helpful because I wish I had this information available when I was without heat. lol.

I had a continuing problem with a weak ignition on my oil furance, which caused my (Beckett model "A" "AFG" F-head) to not start, I replaced the original iron core ignition transformer with this new solid state electronic oil igniter and the problem was immeddiately solved. This new solid state transformer is one quarter the size and weight of the old unit and was easy to install by following the insturtions supplied (make sure you follow the instruction about the white neutral being connected to your white neutral, the old iron core ignition transformer had two black wires only so it made no differance on the hook-up) I wish I had check the ignition first instead adjusting and trouble-shooting every thing else first I could have saved my-self a lot of time. The price of this part was reasonable and well worth it, the shipping was fast and well packed, the instruction easy to follow, I would recommend this product as a fix to anyone with reasonable mechanical skills.

I was noticing an abnormal delay in my oil burner firing after the fuel pump started ( a potentially dangerous situation). Replacing the original transformer with the Beckett electronic igniter made a an immediate improvement; the burner now fires almost immediately with the pump starting. This should also improve the efficiency of the burner.

Was extremely easy to install and worked like a charm for my Beckett oil burner model A, AF. Only two screws and two wires to join together.

Installed in 15min. Worked perfectly. Smaller, lighter and more powerful than the one that it replaced. This corrected all of the issues I've had for a long time (furnace is in our hunting camp). No more delayed ignition or issues caused by no ignition and too much oil in the buner (black smoke, rumbling, nearly burning down my camp when it did ignite!). Highly recommend this product.

Looking on the local area for a part to replace the one which died on me I was out of luck...no one sell them to public, without being an contractor. So, Amazon.com here I am...and I found the part for the price I could not beleived. And Primemembershiping free, what a treat. Only problem was the waiting time for delivery(7 days) because I was cheap to pay $60 for two days mail.
This electronic igniter is direct update for the older model and 20K volts is great step up. I am warm and furnace is burning again.

Had some puffback coming into basement from heater. My heater guy came out and cleaned the furnace and mentioned that the problem was likely the ignitor on my 20 year old New Yorker Furnace. After referencing the part number online, I didn't feel like paying 100 for the original one (which isn't easy to find) I came across this product on Amazon and after reading reviews on here, it seemed to fit the bill so I took a shot and ordered. I recieved the product in about 5 days (regular shipping) and just installed it today. Wiring was easy. White to White. Blue/white to Orange/black. I kept the old cad cell and without disconnecting, reinstalled in the slot provided on the new unit. After installing the whole thing in about 15 minutes, I noticed that they cut the corners off the front so there are no screw down tabs, which leaves the unit floating and not properly sealed. Because of my haste and not feeling like sending it back, I took a hack saw and cut the front tab off the old unit in a minute leaving me with a screwhole aligned "bracket" to hold down the front of the box so it sealed correctly. Done, works fine. Fired right up. Hopefully that is the end of my ignitor problem.
