Fountain pump review 450gph,
This review is from: Beckett 7061310 350gph Submersible Pump with 16' Cord (Lawn & Patio)
I purchased to replace my 14 year old 350gph Beckett pump so the brand does last. Two design changes on new pump are not ideal: 1) pump no longer has discharge butterfly flow valve, only an intake partial control slide. It makes it impossible to reduce the flow to meet my fountain's needs - should have bought a smaller pump and 2) suction intake is now out to the side and .5-1.5 inches off bottom of pump versus old style suction that was right in the bottom of the pump - leaves get into suction easier and if water level drops a little the pump starts sucking air.

Very happy with this pump. Bought this pump as a replacement for a lower power pump in our outdoor pond. Use it to create water turbulents to control mosquitoes from using it. The pump has enough power to effectively stimulate the water while at the same time providing some aeration. The pond scum eventually is pulled into the filter portion of the pump and has to be cleaned. Learned to extend the operation time by placing the pump in one of the small plastic buckets used for selling strawberries. The plastic bucket provides some filter protection by keeping out large chunks of the scum.

My old pump stopped working. Rather than bring in an electrician to replace it, I decided to try it myself. I first located a similar rated pump--actually slightly less powerful--with a price I considered reasonable. The Beckett model fit the bill. It shipped on time and I spliced it into my electrical line with no problem...applying a generous amount of silcone gel to insulate the connectkon from possible water intrusion, It works like a charm, with more than adequate power to lift my water stream three feet high. Bottom line, the pump was a great buy financially as compared to the Big Box stores; it was worth the few days wait to receive it; installed easily; and now works perfectly. Highly recommended.

I am glad that we purchased the more powerful pump. It is now obvious that a lesser pump would not have worked. This pump can barely raised enough water to the 4' height necessary, that our garden fountain was intended. We know now that our orginal, less powerful pump, was not defective, it just was not powerful enough.Beckett 7061310 350gph Submersible Pump with 16' Cord

I bought this pump to push water from a canister filter back into my turtle's tank. Since i designed the filter using a 6" diameter PVC pipe, i needed a pump with these specs that would fit inside. This pump was cheap and after 6 months, is still going strong.

I ordered a pump that was supposed to pump 340 gallons per hour. True Value (ordered through Amazon) substituted a pump that only pumps 200 per hour and has a lower lift height. My previous Beckett pump worked for 3 years without failure. I've had this new pump for one month and I've had to take it out and clean it twice to get it restarted. It just does not have the power to push pond water to the top of the waterfall. Wasted money.
