Book Description

The Chronicles of the Corriian Wars June 24, 2008
The grey monster disappears into the bracken. After the near encounter, Norri is left shaken and wondering. What is it? How did it come to be in the Fornvelt?

He has no idea that sighting the creature is just the first portent of great events that are taking shape, much less what his part in them will be.

Norri, Tom, and the others find themselves in an epic struggle against the massed armies and navy of the Corriian Empire who unleash demonic weapons of terror and legend against them until all hope of any of them surviving the conflagration seems lost.

Norri’s task and the journey he undertakes goes terribly wrong. There, in utter despair, he makes the decision that could shake the world.

Thus begins the fantastic voyage of Beckwood Brea.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great values in Fantasy, January 13, 2009

This review is from: Beckwood Brae (The Chronicles of the Corriian Wars) (Paperback)
This book is the story of a land which has had very little trouble, suddenly being attacked by a formidable foe. Will the characters be able to rise up and overcome their fears? Will their faith falter, or prove to be based on something solid and trustworthy?

I really liked some of the imaginative cultures in this story and the values of friendship, honor, trust, faith and courage which are the mainstay of the free land. The story falters a bit in the everyday conversations and details, but the creativity is fine and the battles and action scenes are very well done.

5.0 out of 5 stars The way it should be . . ., January 5, 2009
This review is from: Beckwood Brae (The Chronicles of the Corriian Wars) (Paperback)
I just finished Beckwood Brae. I loved it. There was some choppy movement through time toward the end, but overall it was an excellent read. I am a big fan of Tolkien and Lewis, and if I wrote a book, I would try along the sames lines as Webb has here. It's Webb's method and moral sense that I enjoy, in our real world of shying away from things relating to God. He gives us a picture of the right ways, God's ways, in looking at the relations of men and women. I also enjoyed His perspective on courage and how it relates to faith in God. I can't wait for book two.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Standout, November 8, 2008

This review is from: Beckwood Brae (The Chronicles of the Corriian Wars) (Paperback)
You can always tell a good book when the first thing you want to do when you finish is to read it again, and then you find yourself waiting for the sequel to find out what happens next.

I just have finished re-reading Beckwood Brae, and if you like fantasy stories then this is one book you shouldn't miss. Unlike many modern fantasy novels, this is an engaging story with characters that are so real that you can identify with them. They are ordinary people dealing with difficult but believable situations. Even the enemy aren't all evil and without any redeeming qualities, which is a refreshing change.

The world of Beckwood Brae is described in such vivid detail that it is easy to visualise as you read. While similar to ours, there are many differences that are skillfully woven into the tale, with all of them working together to create a plausible alternate reality.

A story worth reading, and then worth reading again.
