I have used a ring sling, a Mai Tei, and Mai Tei Hip carrier, the baby bjorn, and a couple of others. I was sold on this one, specifically over the Ergo, because the idea of transferring a sleeping baby to my husband, without waking the baby up or taking him out of the carrier, sounded so fabulous. And guess what: it works! There *are* buckles and straps (not nearly enough to earn a 1-star review, in my opinion), and I could see how it could take some getting used to. Once you do, though, it's super easy to get baby in and out. I also prefer it to the Ergo b/c that "infant insert" looks bulky and hot. With the Beco, the insert is fairly light-weight, easy to use, and not at all bulky. it just shortens the pouch and provides some extra side support so your baby doesn't flop out. It's super easy on my back; I have some back problems and I have no problem wearing this for extended periods of time, including couple mile walks. Once baby gets big enough to use it as a backpack, it is fairly easy to use this way, and easy to switch from front to back carry, as well. I nurse my son to sleep in it, too--harder to do with the infant insert but still possible, and very easy once the insert is out. I was puzzled what to do with the buckles for the insert until I stuck them into the strap keepers. My sister-in-law has the Ergo and wishes she had a Beco, and I recommend it highly to my many mom friends. I am quite pleased with it. Also--the Becos all are made with organic cotton. If you want an Ergo, be prepared to pay $20+ extra for organic.
