This review is from: Beco Gemini 4-in-1 Baby Carrier - Black (Baby Product)
I bought this right before my baby's first flight at 5 months. It was truely the best thing. I would strap him in for boarding and deboarding and it freed up my hands so I could break down my stroller with ease. Another mom with the same stroller and carry on set up always had to rely on the help of others because she didn't have a carrier. I'm 5', 115 lbs and my Beco is very comfortable.

I absolutely love this carrier. This is the third one I bought and by far the best. It feels sturdy, yet lightweight and I can wear it all day with no problem. It is very similar to my Ergo but feels slightly lighter and I can face my son out which he loves. The only downside is no pocket in front or a hood to completely cover his head while sleeping, but the headrest comes up pretty high, so its not a big deal. My husband uses the Bjorn, but that gives me serious upper back pain after 10 minutes. I wish I would have purchased this one to begin with. Would have saved a lot of money.

If you plan on wearing your baby alot, this carrier is wonderful. The hip strap takes the pull of baby's weight from your shoulders (like when wearing a baby bjorn) and evenly places it over your hips, making it much easier to wear baby for longer periods of time. It has a variety of ways to hold baby, my favorite of which is the front facing option that many buckle-carriers don't have. And with the higher weight range this carrier is a long term investment that will last.

I just started using this carrier - my son is 3 months old and about 15 lbs now. I tried it when he was a newborn but he didn't like it that much. His head was kind of smashed against my chest and he kept trying to turn to look around. Now that he can hold his head he can face out and he seems to really enjoy it. I haven't used it longer than a 15-20 minute walk around the neighborhood when we walk our dog but during that time it felt safe and secure. My back did not hurt but I didn't wear it for an extended period of time. I do think it would be good for at least an hour. I also have a Moby wrap but I didn't like trying to fold it and the massive amount of fabric. I could never get it to feel secure enough where I felt like I could use my hands and not hold the baby too. With the Beco Gemini carrier I am able to move my arms and use my hands. I would recommend this product, especially if you have a baby that doesn't like to be put down as this would allow you to get some things done around the house while keeping your baby with you.

I did a lot of research on baby carriers to be sure it is not a crotch dangler and it does not cause me any back pain. I finally bought this carrier and it is very comfortable for both the baby and me. I have tried the front carry face-in position and the hip carry position. While I was trying other carriers, my daughter used to feel very uncomfortable the moment I put her in. But she liked this one. It is very light weight, compact and it can be easily folded and carried in a diaper bag or your stroller. The material used is 100% organic cotton and feels soft on your baby and you. The pattern in 'Ginger' model is much prettier in person than shown in the product image. The straps are easily adjustable. I am petite 5"2, my husband is 5"8 and both of us can wear it with the same ease. The buckles are a little difficult to remove as they have a third lock, but it makes sure your baby is secure. The base can be widened for a bigger baby, but I use it in the narrow position as my 3 month old is only 12 pounds. This carrier is very much worth its price.

My 6 month old loves this, I started using it for mainly the backpack part of it, once she was able to sit up when she was 5 months old. With me being 4'11" I wasn't able to see over shopping carts with her in her carseat-she loves to look around while I shop. I also bought the drool pads which I recommend-as she is teething! Love my Beco and I can't wait to use it more as the weather gets nicer outside.

Okay, but the away-facing position is uncomfortable for the baby,

We tried a bunch of baby carriers and chose this one because my husband has a big old barrel chest and didn't fit some other ones. This one worked best for him, and it fits me too. It's comfortable to wear, and easy enough to adjust and put on. HOWEVER, there's one huge design flaw: the bottom part that goes across the baby's crotch is way too wide. This doesn't matter as long as the baby is facing toward you (as in the picture that Amazon uses), but imagine that baby turned around and you can see that its legs will be splayed out, and the edges of the carrier will cut into its thighs uncomfortably. I kept thinking my son would soon be big enough that this wouldn't be an issue, but he's almost two and the carrier is still not fitting right.
Of course, you could always carry the baby facing you, or use the Beco as a backpack; it's great that this one carrier offers so many options. But my son after about the age of six months wanted to face outward so he could look around, and I hated taking him out of the carrier and seeing big red lines across his legs. If this were a cheaper carrier I would cut the leg holes better and sew some stuffing in, but the thing is clearly well-made and I don't want to mess with it. For me, this carrier is an example of what could have been an awesome product . . . but was derailed by one big flaw. Comparisons: 1. Babybjorn Baby Carrier Air - Gray/White, Mesh: we used this when my son was very small and it was great, but after he reached about 15 lbs the Bjorn put too much strain on my upper back. 2. Ergo Baby Carrier Black with Camel Lining: This is the go-to carrier among people I know; everyone raves about it. When we tried it on in the store I thought it was slightly more comfortable (for me) than the Beco was, but even with the optional extender the Ergo didn't fit my husband well.

great product, with this product, i can put my baby in the carrier and feed her and shopping. but before i have to stop somewhere and feed her and go on shopping. it works even better with a nursing cover. without a cover maybe ok too, the camera on the store ceiling can see better (**)

I bought this to replace my Infantino.
I saw a lot of reviewers putting less than 3 stars for Infantino products, but with my all sincerity I can't see that large difference to justify that product costs, you can buy 5 Infantinos or more. I bought this because I'm a Man and I really love the all black thing, looks great, is easy to use, and fell the baby very safe, but the price is totally unjustified, is too much for that product. I strongly recommend if is possible, you go to a store to see and touch this before buy, I never did write a bad review if the product not deserve it, please don't repeat my mistake, with that review I'm just trying to help people to not do what I did. I wont return it because I live outside U.S. |
