From the Back Cover

If this guy can become an involved and nurturing father, anyone can do it!

Within weeks of getting pregnant, Kelly Crull's wife had a stack of parenting books waiting on his nightstand, complete with neat, hand-written bookmarks telling him which chapters he needed to read. In nine months, he had learned everything about his wife giving birth, becoming a mother, and how he could support her. What he wanted and couldn't find was a book by a normal guy telling him about becoming a dad. The last thing he needed was more expert advice, a ten-step plan or fancy pie charts. He just wanted someone to give it to him straight, "What was parenting going to be like for him?" Becoming Dad is the book he wanted and couldn't find.

Find out what it's like to...
  • visit the gynecologist with your wife
  • break a sweat in your wife's childbirth class
  • master the manly art of breastfeeding
  • have sex (or not) with a mother
  • do stand-up comedy routines for diaper changes
  • be man enough to put a baby to sleep
  • discipline a baby who pickpockets
  • comfort baby after you drop a wrench on her foot
  • send mom away for a few days to prove you and baby can survive a weekend together

This view is priceless, and looking back, I could see myself in many of the thoughts, concerns and ideas that the author does share in this book.

I don't endorse books very often - but I enjoyed this one so much, I had to recommend it.

I haven't read the ready-for-public copy yet, but if the author's blog and rough drafts are any indication (which they are), this book will be a hilarious page-turner! Kelly writes of life with such clarity that it feels like we're sitting at the same table telling stories about the good, the bad, and the funny. This book is definitely worth reading - both for fun but also to learn the do-not-miss issues in becoming a dad.

Bookstore aisles are lined with manuals with tips to help women prepare to be mothers - and there's an abundance of books to advise women about each stage of pregnancy, but where does dad find help to comprehend what his new role will look like?

Right here! Loved "Becoming Dad!!" It's a funny, sometimes suspenseful, and completely realistic look at what fatherhood feels like. Kelly Crull did an amazing job of documenting his account as an expectant father through ushering his child into toddlerhood.

I don't endorse books very often - but I enjoyed this one so much, I had to recommend it.

This is the type of book that I wish that I would have had when I first found out that I was going to be a father. Kelly does an amazing job at sharing an amazing story with his readers. You will laugh in many points and even be brought to emotional realizations of the experiences that Kelly is sharing overall. I loved the unique nature of this book, being written more as a diary than as a chapter book. What this does is open the door for the reader to be able to get a true glimpse into the day-to-day experiences of a new father. This view is priceless, and looking back, I could see myself in many of the thoughts, concerns and ideas that the author does share in this book. I would highly encourage all father to read this book, whether they are already fathers or our fathers-to-be, you will not be disappointed.

If you're going to be a Dad, learn from this book. If you are already a Dad, laugh and cry with this book. If you aren't sure you want to be a Dad, be encouraged by this book. If you're married to a Dad, empathize with this book. It took only a few minutes to receive those quaint smirks from strangers in a coffee shop as I laughed out loud every few pages while reading this three-year diary of one man's journey into fatherhood. Thank you, Kelly, for articulating so well the incredible mix of anxiety, joy, frustration, peace, anger and love any man can expect on the way to becoming a Dad every child deserves.

Crull is a nuanced writer with a sublime capacity for capturing authentic moments using evocative language. I can't imagine anyone better equipped to authentically chronicle and share the vicissitudes of fatherhood. Recommended.
