As a newly married Christian couple, we had trouble finding a devotional for younger couples that dealt with issues we face. This book took a look at the first steps together as a couple in Christ and helped to blend us together into a team. Yet, the book helped us to remember that we are each individuals and to celebrate these differences. We are busy, and creating a time once a week was perfect for this book and our lifestyle. I would RECOMEND this book to anyone, but especially couples in the first ten years of marriage.

This is the only marriage/relationship book I've been able to make it through - and I look forward to it every week! We take turns reading a chapter to each other weekly, and in addition to the topics being very real to life/couple issues, the discussion questions give you an opportunity to better understand and learn about your spouse. We also like how each week it asks you to select a particular upcoming challenge we'd like our spouse to pray for us about, and a concrete kindness they can offer us - this really gets us in touch with what is going on with the other. Highly recommended!!

It's so easy to get too busy and forget to really TALK and CONNECT with each other. My husband and I find this book helpful because we can do one little section on the evenings we feel like it. After reading a section and talking through the questions, we have usually learned something new or been reminded of the important things in our life, our marriage and our spirituality.

The pastor who performed our ceremony gave us this book as a wedding gift, and has been a real blessing to us. Newlyweds often face so much change and upheaval that it may be hard to find time to work on the marriage. This book presents a year's worth of content, arranged by topic and meant to be read once a week. The chapters are brief but engaging, and each provides with discussion questions, a verse from scripture, and a story from a couple that relates to the theme. Once readers have finished talking about the content, they are encouraged to think about the week ahead and make plans to help each other in concrete ways.

We've found it to be a nice follow-up to our pre-marital counseling; this book provides on-going discussion and strategies for honoring and loving your spouse.

Note: this book assumes a Christian audience. While the discussions would be helpful for any couple, non-Christian readers should be aware of this orientation before buying the book.

This is one of the best devotional books for couples I have come across. It deals with couples beginning their lives together, but it would be beneficial to any couple whose spirituality is important to them. It would make a perfect wedding gift!

I would agree with the reviews below. This is intended for couples to use together and discuss. That is where the real bonding and intimacy is. I can't say I'm confortable with everything they ask...just one of those quiet unemotional types.

This is good for any couple, but I think the intended audience are for beginning couples, and even better when you are thinking about marriage.

There are many chapters dealing with a relationship topic. It would be good to cover 1-2 a week. This would be a very good couple devotional book to work through.

My husband and I both really like this book! It's not overly philosophical, doesn't get hokey about how much "thinking" and "talking" we needed to do about each topic. It just gets us into the Word together and is appicable to us and our lives.

What I like about this book is you can skip straight to a chapter that fits your current situation and they give you tips on what to do/not to do as well as an example of a couple that had dealt with the same situation. Such chapters include:

What I don't like is the tips/prayers at the end of each chapter are nearly all the same! I think the authors could have used more creativity here!
