Though it sheds no new light on its subject, this helpful collection is notable for its emphasis on the parental responsibility of guiding spiritual growth in children. The Bruces (Reclaiming Your Family; My Parent, My Turn, etc.) maintain that this is an area in which parents must teach as much by example as by instruction. They provide support for their ideas, a number of good quotes and plenty of supplemental resources--including sections of "Spiritual Food for Thought," which encourage readers to think through and personalize the readings. The last two chapters, "Teach Your Child About Death" and "Put Feet to Faith," offer excellent treatments of their subjects.
