5.0 out of 5 stars A Total Renewal For The Christian Woman!!!
When Donna Partow invited me to become one of the first to experience the 90 Day Renewal found in BECOMING THE WOMAN I WANT TO BE, I wasn't sure what to expect. Wow. What a renewal! Over a 90 day period, Donna guided me on a journey of scripture memorization, attitude affirmations, prayer journaling, and changes in diet and physical activity. To borrow a phrase from...

2.0 out of 5 stars Not What I Thought
At first I was very excited by the premis of this book but, as I read and subsequently read the website. it seems like there's no more freedom found in weight control here than any other program. The author herself recently blogged about being on the cabbage soup diet, which is discouraging considering how she claims this book is basically what she uses. She just seems...

To borrow a phrase from another of Donna's books (BECOMING A VESSEL GOD CAN USE), I certainly had broken places that needed to be repaired (from being betrayed by a relative). I was already exercising on a regular basis (to fight estrogen overload) and partook of a fairly healthy diet. The BIG changes came in my walk with God. I experienced Scripture Surges, when God's word seemed to leap off the pages. The best part about the renewal was that my mind was so focused on God, and on improving myself, that I didn't have time to dwell on all the old hurts. This is not a devotional I'll use once because I consider renewal to be an ongoing process. Before I stop, I have to say that I appreciate that Donna Partow talks like a real woman. She isn't preachy. She talks like I do!! I highly recommend this book to every woman who wants renewal in her body, soul, and spirit!!

This review is from: Becoming the Woman I Want to Be (Paperback)
This book will allow you to walk closer with the Lord as you also make healthy choices for your walk here on this earth. Donna Partow has allowed the Lord to use her to draw her readers closer to Him as they enter a challanging walk through these pages. She will encourage and challange you to draw near to God, to use and treat your body as the temple he made it to be. You will feel better physically, but also spiritually you will GROW. You will truly draw near to God as you enter into this time of renewal. You will also love her other books if you want to be encouraged in the word of God.

5.0 out of 5 stars Challenging, August 26, 2005

I just finished going through this book the second time. Both times I found it a challenge to me to take care of the body God has given me. The first time I went through the book I was looking for a way to lose weight as well as strengthen my spiritual walk with the Lord. What I found was a lifestyle change, not a diet. The second time, I wanted to reinforce the principles in my life as I start a new chapter in my life. I've found many of the affirmations helpful as reminders of how to practically apply God's Word in my life. Donna's ministry in my life since I first met her several years ago has been just what I needed at the time. I appreciate Donna being open and honest with her readers and participants in her workshops and classes.

5.0 out of 5 stars More than I expected, August 25, 2005
This review is from: Becoming the Woman I Want to Be (Paperback)
I took this class and did the book last year at our church. I was not ready for the life changing effect it had on me and my husband! The program is not difficult; in fact it seemed too easy at first. I was ready for a huge challenge. What this program did, was return to me my health which I had been losing for almost 5 years. Seven doctors couldn't help me. This is not a DIET book, this is a health manual. Emotional, spiritual and physical health manual. I have personally researched the net for years looking for answers to my health issues only to find them here. These are extremely powerful principals that are easy to follow and adopt into your life.

5.0 out of 5 stars I am that woman now, August 26, 2005
This review is from: Becoming the Woman I Want to Be (Paperback)
After taking the class and seeing how easy it is to keep a balance in your life, I had a new out look on things. I was not trying to lose weight, it wasn't even part of my goal, but with the simplest steps I have lost and kept off 20 lbs. I once was a coffee junky, but I haven't touched the stuff in over a year.
Learning how to cleanse my body helped me cleanse myself spiritually. I love the enthusiasm she has for wanting to see every woman become the person they want to be. I like that you don't have to do anything heavily regimented like getting a personal trainer or kicking sugar, coffee and other goodies all at once. It is an easy plan to create the perfect overall healthy spiritual woman.

I really got a lot out of this book - spiritually, emotionally, and physically. I liked the way she spoke from the heart. She made us look at ourselves and upwards.

5.0 out of 5 stars Becoming The Woman...., August 25, 2005

This review is from: Becoming the Woman I Want to Be (Paperback)
I read this book on my own during a very stressful and difficult time for my husband and myself. He was out of his last church and looking, it took awhile. I read and used this book during that time and it helped me grow and see that God had not rejected me simply because others had. I felt His love and guidence in my life during that time, and it helped change my life! I am thankful that the Lord lead me to read this book when He did, it opened up many new and wonderful things in my life!! It gave me strength and courage and I was able to be supportive to my husband during this time in our lives.

5.0 out of 5 stars Motivational, August 25, 2005

This review is from: Becoming the Woman I Want to Be (Paperback)
I have thoroughly enjoyed this book and appreciate how the author focuses on the importance of balance between spirit, soul, and body. Too often, books promote only one side of this triangle, when all three are truly essential.

4.0 out of 5 stars Becoming The Woman I Want To Be, August 25, 2005
This review is from: Becoming the Woman I Want to Be (Paperback)
A good review and reminder of how important it is to balance our lives, physically, mentally and spiritually...along with directions to apply those in your life. As in all programs there were some areas I benefitted from and some that were not particularly helpful for me (no need for weight loss), but surely worth anyones time and effort to read and apply.
