5.0 out of 5 stars Extremely underrated album
I don't know what happened to thses guys lately...their site has not been updated in a while and I haven';t heard any news about them but if they make a new album I will be one of the first to buy it. This album is one of the greatest things I've ever heard.

1. Crashing (10/10) Simply awesome.
2. Failure (7/10) Really good song but loses its intensity...

3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
After hearing the first record, the first thought that come into my mind was that these guys have potentiel. After all, every new band that don't rap-metal these days bring hope to this world (Unloco sounds kind of like Staind with a little less power). This was especially true with songs like Reckoning and Bystander, which showed great maturity for a first record...

1. Crashing (10/10) Simply awesome.
2. Failure (7/10) Really good song but loses its intensity after a few plays.
3. Hands and Knees (8/10) Another good song using their hard and melodic style.
4. Empty (10/10) BEST SONG ON THE ALBUM BY FAR. THIS SONG IS SO GOOD YOU CAN JUST GET CHILLS LISTENING TO IT. IF YOU ARE GOING TO LISTEN TO ANY OF THEIR SONGS LET THIS BE IT.
5. Bruises (5/10) Different style compared to their other songs I don't personally like it.
6. Drowning In It (6/10) Pretty good song but nothing too special.
7. Watching Me Slip (7/10) Acoustic song - still a great song.
8. Becoming I (9/10) Not as hard as the others but the melody is just so good.
9. Fold (10/10) Such a great song another one that you can feel.
10. Neurotic (9/10) Insane intro and stays good throughout the whole song.
11. Making Me Hate You (7/10)- Awesome guitar and pretty good chorus.
12. Texas (10/10) ANother acoustic mellow song but its great.

5.0 out of 5 stars 2nd best bend on MAAW 2 tour, November 24, 2004
This review is from: Becoming i (Audio CD)
Unloco is a great band with great music and great lyrics. They were the second best band on the music as a weapon tour 2 behind the great Disturbed. If you like Disturbed you will like Unloco for sure.

This is a great CD. All of the songs are very good. Good vocals and good music in the backround. Nice lyrics, too. If you like alternative rock, buy this CD!

4.0 out of 5 stars You either like them or you dont., June 27, 2004
This review is from: Becoming i (Audio CD)
Alot of pieces from past reviews are right. This CD is pure nu-metal, at least there is no rapping (to an extent).

Before listening to this album you have to realize and have a mindset that this is really just another rock band. The originality is lacking big time but the talent is there. I have been keeping up with unloco and reading some of their stuff in guitar magazines. Their debut album, "healing" was pretty much a flop and things started falling apart. I think this explains the more melodic or..."sell out" feel. Sorry to say, but i think to take one last grasp they changed their writing to make one last impact on the rock genre. I dont typically like bands with un-original sounds or something i could qualify as just another band, but something about this is good. They sounded pretty hard at ozzfest when i saw them on the 2nd stage, i dont know about the MAAW tour. Personally my favorite are the vocals, he has a good voice, i like how he writes in the lyrics with a passion, although i do think they are lacking and the typical "im depressed" lyrics they are still very heartfelt and coming from what he's feeling and thats very respectable. I like this band and i like their music, alot. Although alot of the same, it still brings a good listen too. Some songs give great emotion and spurt out great melody and rythem that will have you enjoying. The track crashing is also listend on the playlist for PS2 Madden 2004 football game.
Though i like this band i dont think they will ever make it big... i dont think alot of people will put up with this kind of music when other overshadowing nu-metal bands are out there. They seem to try so hard but continue to lack something, at least thats the feel i get with as much music as i listen to and thats alllll kindssss of rock. But i must admit it takes talent to do the same thing everyone else is doing and still impress people, and thats what they do. I think its the effort they put forth even though it comes up a bit short.
The accoustics are good, but they do get a bit repititive and the intros sound too much of the same...its still very pretty but they could have distinguished the 2 a bit more. I reccomend if you really want to experiment with this band you buy both cd's, the first one before this. In my view its what the real unloco was to sound like until they came to a self-realization that if they continued that musical path, things just wouldnt last. Good sophmore effort Unloco. I really like them even though it has many things about them i wouldnt. I hope things work out for them, give them a listen.

4.0 out of 5 stars Unloco - Becoming Better, April 29, 2003
This review is from: Becoming i (Audio CD)
My overall view on this album is a positive one. I like it alot and is currently in my car's CD player. This band has blossomed into something much better. I originally owned their self titled album hooked by the song "Nothing," but this album evoles the band into something so much more.

1. "Crashing" - With a rather strong drum line, this track speaks of sacrifices that don't pay off, an easy thing we can all relate to.

2. "Failure" - This is the band's single, and it's a shame too because it's one of the better songs on the CD. (I don't want it to get played out) Opening with an acoustic guitar, the vocals are given a real solo here and do this well for the first time on the album. (but hey it's only track 2)

3. "Hands and Knees" - This is the classic "Dear Mom & Dad" song most bands have on least on of their albums. (I know KoRn has a few). In the interlude of the song, spanish is spoke: Pues madre y padre esta vida no quiero vivir. Basically this means, well mom and dad I don't want(or it doens't please me) to live this life. This is in my opinion, awesome. More bands need to use other languages in their songs. It twists things up.

4. "Drowning In This" - opens with a rag tag drum beat and depressing lament about how "their's nothing good about this life." The chorus is power exclaiming "it's not right to feel this way," that let's the listener known that the singer is ready to change to the old way of his life, where he "used to feel so much better than this."

5. "Empty" - This is my favorite song on the CD. Again the drums are stronger than the guitar in this one, especially in the verses. The verses are deep, and are easy to relate to for me. This song is also the first time on the album we hear a scream for the vocals and they finish the song off nicely.

6. "Bruises" - This the heaviest song on the CD so far. The first explicit is also spoken(screamed?) "shut the f*ck up!" I'm not sure how I feel about this song. There's better ones on the CD. A lot of screaming and heavy guitars/bass/drums.

7. "Making Me Hate You" - Grungy guitar opens the song, and is followed by drums like normal. (They could really use a drum opening or bass opening.) This song has sort of a rap feel to the verse, the flow easily and quickly. The Chorus is awesome, and my third favorite on the CD. It's powerful, angry, and convincing.

8. "Watching Me Slip" - This song is primarily acoustic and vocals. A soothing orchestra (or maybe a really expensive keyboard) comes in about mid-way through the song and drives emotion deeper into the song. I love this song and Unloco does a great job on this one.

9. "Becoming i" - A little guitar rift opens and then some quiet vocals. These pick up when the drums enter. There's a good progression and a somewhat tribal drum beat. I dig that. This song is rather quiet through out until about 3:17, then he just goes off and screams. It sounds great and it gets your blood moving.

10. "Fold" - This song has some good vocals and is the second song on the Cd that uses an explicit. "It's half past noon, another f*cking bad day." I'm not sure about the focus of this song but it has good progression so I like it. I think he's maybe saying that he gives in or "folds" like in poker.

11. "Neurotic" - This is probably the only song on the CD that I skip. It's got good progressions but the vocals have some sort of effect on them that just turns me off.

12. "Texas" - Arguable the softest song on the CD next to "becoming i." This song is just amazing. Saying there's acoustic guitar and vocals just doesn't do it justice. You have to hear this one. It's about a lost girlfriend I assume and man, I think all guys can relate to that one. There's a piano in this one and helps to reflect the overall lamenting and sad mood of this song.

I hope this reivew helps. Enjoy this great album.

4.0 out of 5 stars Unloco rule, eventhough they've kinda sold out and split up, June 16, 2005
This review is from: Becoming i (Audio CD)
This album is a really great album. I think in this album, Unlocos efforts can really be seen. Unfortunately, Unloco, never really made a great sucess of themselves, and as many other reviewers/fans have said, they can't see why Unloco were never a big sucess. However, now, no-one will ever know, as they split up a while back, but, despite them splitting up, they have recorded an amazing album, that amazing album, being Becoming I.

I'd listened to this album on amazon a few times, before eventually deciding to buy it, and I have to say that, I wasn't disappointed atall!! I think it's an amazing album. Unloco are quite different, they're not too heavy, but they're not exactly like Simple Plan or New found Glory, I think they're inbetween, perhaps alternative rock, not that everything has to be in a genre, but I know that some people criticized Unloco for not being true metal or whatever, but I don't think it really matters too much what genre they are, it doesn't hide the fact that the music on this album is really good.

The music is amazing, and all of the instruments fit in so well with the lead singers singing.

My favourite tracks on the album are as follows:

Crashing-this is an amazing first song on the album, it really sets the tone for whats to come! I think this is one of the best songs.
Failure-this is a very good song. Not one of my favourites though
Hands and Knees-tackles bad relationships with parents, how many of us have experienced that I wonder. Good song.
Drowning in it-I love this song and have to say, this has to be one of the best songs on the album.
Empty-Again, another very good song. Another favourite of mine
:-)
Bruises-I love this song, although some people find it abit annoying.
Watching me slip, Becoming I and Fold are 3 more of the best on the album, each are absaloutely amazing, Watching me slip is more of a slow/sad song, Becoming I,starts off slow but the guitars are amazing, and the chorus becomes a little heavier and Fold, that's kick ass from start to finish.
Texas0 is the last song on the album, which is also a very very good song. It's similar to Watching me slip in the way that it's a slower and sadder song with very meaningful lyrics, and the lead singers voice sounds so nice!!! lol......ok, so what I'm trying to say is Unloco are a very talented and underrated band so if you're looking for a band to listen to, check Unloco out.

Also check out The Blank Theory, they're quite similar to Unloco and are cool as well :-)

4.0 out of 5 stars I Don't Believe In Nu-Metal---Unloco's Worthy 2nd Effort, December 4, 2003

Ok, for starters read the title. Now ill go into the cd. Unloco may have changed their sound a bit and gone for the more melodic style, but its still great. Pedro's still around in this cd, but thats not all Victor has many chances to show his bass skills IE:"Watching Me Slip". All around, its your same Unloco w/ heartfelt lyrics and melodic vocals, throw in a few screams here and there, you got a dope cd.

1.Crashing- An awesome song, one of my fav of this cd. Great lyrics, awesome musicianship (their new guitarist is pretty good). I really enjoyed the chorus. My fav.

2.Failure- Another good song, took me a while to realize it. Its verses are better than its chorus, but its still dope. I extremely like the ending to it, very nice.

3.Hands & Knees- This song reminded me of "Know One" from Healing. A "riding the horse" feel to it. Really nice verses, and the chorus goes great w/ it. Great playing by everyone
Can't forget Pete.

4.Empty- Alot of people will think this song is just another Staind-type song, which it isnt. It took me a while to get into this song, but i realized that it was a great song. Nice lyrics, vocals.

5.Bruises- A dope song, this is how i first heard about Unloco (yes i bought "Becoming I" first). Its a great song heavy guitars, deep bass line, loud drums. But my one complaint is that its too frikin short!

6.Drowning In It- Another song that took me a while to get used to. But thats the joy of listen to new music. Really nice guitar, lyrics are good.

7.Watching Me Slip- This song makes me sad everytime i hear it. Its one of those sad songs that almost every band has, but its a good one. I like Joey's acoustic guitar playing and especially the violins. But really i think Victor' bass playing is the best part. A fav.

8.Becoming I- Doesnt really make since that this song is right after "Watching Me Slip", but its alright. Good lyrics, starts off acoustic. Once again, great drumming by Pete.

9.Fold- I like this song, but there are better tracks. Good verses, chorus beats it out though. Really melodic, a lot like the rest of the cd.

10.Neurotic- Its one of those underrated tracks that no one really likes the first time they hear it. But i actually like this song, really interesting lyrics, great playing by the band, it all blends together to create a dope atmosphere to it (what its all about. A semi fav.

11.Making Me Hate You-A great fast-paced song Joey does his little "rapping" type thing for the verses and he throws in some screaming for the chorus. Its a great song, but its too frikin short! Whats up w/ that? C'mon Unloco, lets hear you jam! a fav.

12.Texas-Ok whoa, this song is the best song on the album. Excellent singing, lyrics are incredible. Awesome acoustic guitar playing. I really like the percussion used in this song. This song is really nice.
My top fav.

I bought this CD with high hopes, and I was disappointed with the results. It's all well-recorded and everything, but I don't feel a sense of purpose in many of the songs. I think that the leading single from the CD is probably the best track. It's too bad that a band like Unloco could put out such a mediocre disc.
