4.0 out of 5 stars A Taste Of 'Becstacy'
Becky Baeling has become somewhat of a mini-superstar on the American club scene this past year, thanks in no small part to having dancefloor filling hits with 'If You Love Me' and 'Getaway'. Initially, this actually turned me off, because club divas tend to be, for a lack of a more descriptive word, dull. Great vocalists perhaps, but quite dull. So I passed judgement...

3.0 out of 5 stars Dance Diva
Becky Baeling is a new, emerging dance artist with a hot debut album! If you like uptempo dance music then this is the cd for you. This is also the perfect record for any party you're having. 4.0 out of 5 stars A Taste Of 'Becstacy', November 26, 2003
This review is from: Becstasy (Audio CD)
Becky Baeling has become somewhat of a mini-superstar on the American club scene this past year, thanks in no small part to having dancefloor filling hits with 'If You Love Me' and 'Getaway'. Initially, this actually turned me off, because club divas tend to be, for a lack of a more descriptive word, dull. Great vocalists perhaps, but quite dull. So I passed judgement without actually hearing any of her songs.

Then I heard 'Getaway', which reminded me of UK pop tart Sarah Whatmore's debut track 'When I Lost You' and some of Aussie star Kylie Minogue's best disco pop singles. Not only was she a talented vocalist, but she actually managed to produce a genuinely good pop tune. It lacked mainstream success however, something that was also absent from Becky's debut single 'If You Love Me', which is present here in an album version and a Tony Moran/Mac Quayle mix edit. These are two of the strongest tracks obviously.

For her third and final single from this album, Becky stepped back in time and remade the Belinda Carlisle classic 'Heaven Is A Place On Earth'. However, I think it made a poor choice as both an album track and single. Though vocally strong, the generic dance production drains the track of it's special zing. It has also been covered several times recently anyway. A better choice as third single would have been Becky's down and dirty remake of Karissa Noel's single 'Corrupt', which is on fire. Other single worthy tracks include the not quite anthemic 'I Snapped' and the bitchy camp of 'Diva'.

All together, 'Becstacy' makes for a very solid debut from a talented woman. It's a shame Universal doesn't have a desire to further promote the project, which almost seems dead on arrival as far as pop chart promo is concerned. Hopefully her club success will allow for future album releases, because I'm sure Ms. Baeling has quite a bit more to say.

5.0 out of 5 stars I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS, November 10, 2004

This is the kind of dance CD I've been waiting for. The entire CD could be played straight through in a club with no one stopping, that's how good it is. Each track is a unique dance cut and every song has something special. Whether it's the lyrics, the voice, the hook, or all together it's something special.

Also you have to give Becky credit. She can SING!!! She's got a powerful voice, one to rival Christina's. This is an awesome CD. If you love dance music then this CD delivers.

5.0 out of 5 stars ROCKIN' DANCE ALBUM WITH EXCEPTIONAL VOCALS, March 12, 2004
This review is from: Becstasy (Audio CD)
Looking for a dance album with great lyrics and exceptional vocals? This is the one. I listened to this album over and over for several months before writing this review and let me tell you, Becstasy ROCKs! It's really a shame that Becky Bailing is too underground, at the time of this writing anyway, and hasn't gotten more popular appeal. Her sexy voice is amazing and it's backed by some really rocking, thumping original dance music. Becstasy is BY FAR the best debut album from a new artist in a long time. The only track on the album that I don't love is "Heaven Is A Place On Earth", but I wasn't a fan of the Belinda Carlise version either. I'll grant that Becky does a great job with it though. If you liked the original, you'll probably like Becky's version even more. All in all, Becky Baeling has definitely upped Kylie Minogue with this album, and the vocals and beat far more substantial than anything else currently out there in the Dance genre.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not bad at all - if this is the sound you like, April 12, 2004

If you like catchy, hook-driven dance beats, and are okay with the occasional cheese-factor and empty lyrics, this is a greta album to pick up. I knew nothing of this singer (apart from the radio-friendly 'Getaway') and was definitely not disappointed with this collection of fun, light, dance tracks.

Highlights on this CD include "If you love me," "Without love" and "Take it away" - surprising that none of these were ever released as singles (to the best of my knowledge). A techno-cover of the Belinda Carlyle "Heaven is a Place.." is an interesting bonus. I hope we get to hear more of this singer in years to come.

Onluy downside to this CD is the title "Becstasy."

5.0 out of 5 stars **A NO-RISK POP/DANCE DISC***********, August 20, 2003
This review is from: Becstasy (Audio CD)
Sure, Kylie and Kristine W have albums out in the fall but this debut disc from upcoming talent Becky Baeling is this year's brightest dance hit so far. With a knockout voice, sexy vocal stylings -and top production by renowned Producer Tony Moran, this album should be a huge success. Think Tina Cousins. The problem is trying to market her. Universal have done a great job breaking Baeling into the gay/dance market and have so far secured two No.1 hits on the Billboard dance chart. The challenge now is in trying to market her as a top 40 pop act which Baeling has the potential to be. Think Kylie Minogue. Unfortunately I don't think that new single "Heaven is a place on earth" is going to help. Baeling has much more to offer than a cheap-sounding cover version of Belinda's dated hit. The artist shines brightest on the classy club track "If you love me" -written and produced by Swedish hit-making team Bagge & Arnthor- and the breezy "Getaway", her recent dance chart No1. Other highlights include the Madonna-like "Take it away" and a moody cover version of Karissa Noel's should-have-been-a-hit "Corrupt", with the sexy chorus lines "Deny me if you think you can, but I always get my man"! This is a first class debut that deserves crossover attention. Keep an ear out for the blinding remixes of "If you love me" and "Getaway" which Universal are keeping to themselves. (And they wonder why we end up downloading?! Give us a maxi-single or two!) Take note: this girl is definitely one to watch.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally! Great new music for parties, June 24, 2003
This review is from: Becstasy (Audio CD)
This is the kind of great record Donna Summer used to do, but Becky gives it a real modern edge. I first heard Becky's song "If You Love Me" on a compilation CD called Global Hits 2003 --- there are two versions of that on her album, both of them great!! Pop in Becky on a Saturday night and I dare you not to have fun.

This is one of the few CD's I have purchased that the entire playlist is rock solid....I cant say enough about this dance diva that broke into the spotlight...I first heard Getaway at a club in Detroit and I had to have it...I bought the CD I fell in love with the artist and every single track...Anyone who can remake a Belinda song and take complete ownership, with never before heard charisma and unique style, has my vote......

5.0 out of 5 stars Supernova Star, July 11, 2003

Before purchasing "Becstasy", I had not heard any of her songs. I first heard of Becky when I saw her in #1 slot on the Billboard Dance/Club Charts for her song "Getaway." I decided to buy her CD when it dropped June 24. I got it that day, and I have never heard such addicting and fun beats on any other CD. I have Kylie Minogue's "Fever", which I love, but it doesn't measure up to "Becstasy." The best tracks on this album are "All Over Me", "Diva", "If You Love Me", and "I Snapped." So many empowering and remarkable beats are all over this CD. Becky will get you up on your feet in no time. I'm glad this CD was worth risking $ on a dance diva whose songs I've never heard before.
