Product Description

The new product called the Bed Bug Beacon, manufactured by the same company that brought us the PackTite Bed Bug Heater , harnesses the attractive power of carbon dioxide to monitor and trap bed bugs during an infestation.  The unit relies on proven studies that have shown that bed bugs use the carbon dioxide we exhale while breathing to locate us for their next blood meal.  Carbon Dioxide, illustrated in the video below, instantly re-activates inactivate bed bugs and draws the bugs towards the trail of CO2.

You can build this whole contraption for less than $2. I can't believe they charge $50 for this garbage.

There are plenty of guides to building your own trap on the internet, but they all use dry ice to generate CO2.
Dry ice is hard to get, and you'd need to get it on a daily basis, so I decided to try this solution purely because of how it generates CO2.

I had read that this product is very cheaply made before I bought it, and when I received the box, I was still surprised at the lack of quality on this product. Dollar Store items look like luxury merchandise compared to this garbage. There were even plenty of pubic hair in the box... really disgusting.

Anyway, beyond the cheapness of the contraption, here comes the real rip-off:
To generate CO2, you have to mix the contents of to packets with water. The two packets are misteriously labelled 'CO2 Mix A' and 'CO2 Mix B'. However, when you open them, you'll immediately come to the realization that you were just ripped off, because the contents of thes packets are:
CO2 Mix A: White Sugar
CO2 Mix B: Active Dry Yeast

I feel like such an idiot for wasting money on this garbage. I also make my own bread, and I should have known that sugar and yeast mixed together with water produce CO2 during the rising cycle.

What's even worse, is that they charge $25 for the refill 'CO2 mix'. Can you believe they have the audacity to charge $25 for a little bit of sugar and yeast?!?!

This product is cheaply made as the other reviewer pointed out. I add that it seems ineffective. I'd like to hear from others for whom it was useful. As was pointed out, expensive and more so to keep up.
