The Bed Bug Handbook actually is what it claims -- a complete guide to the biology and control of bed bugs. The authors carefully define what results are based on scientific evidence and what results are based on experience or general opinion. In this way, they provide the most complete information possible on control of this problematic insect. The Bed Bug Handbook is a fine example of scientfic application for practical benefit and it points out the huge research gaps that remain in our understanding of this pest.

Ok, almost through the book and, in comparison to the rest of the money I have spent dealing with bedbugs, $70 is a small price to pay for GREAT information. I LOVE all of the checklists in the Appendix....makes addressing the problem with the other owners in my condo building much easier, and gives me an authoritative reference so that they can see that I'm NOT blowing this out of proportion (at least I hope that will be the case, they have been pretty uncooperative and unresponsive to my messages so far, which is unbelievable to me). My only suggestion would be, though I know this book is intended for professionals, the fact that it is available on Amazon is going to result in lay-people, like myself, buying it and reading it. It would be helpful to have some checklists more specifically directed toward things that the ordinary people who have infestations need to know and/or do, in addition to the existing professional checklists. And, since this book was published in 2007 and the bedbug epidemic has skyrocketed in the last 5 years, I hope there is an updated edition coming VERY SOON! Thank you.

To be fair, I just received this average-sized paperback book in the mail and plan to begin reading it immediately. I am currently fighting bedbugs and I agree that the information needed in this battle is priceless....but over $70 (with shipping) for a paperback book?! Really? I also understand that this book is designed for professionals, but even so, I can't help but think that the epidemic resurgence of bedbug infestations is creating a market that sees a way to capitalize on consumers need to get information and services that are not optional.

Being in the Pest Control Industry myself, there is always a learning curve for the treatment and prevention of the Bed Bug. This book was one of the most informative periodicals in one conciece book that I have witnessed. A must read for every technician, business and homeowner!

This book was written when bed bug control was in its infancy, when bed bugs made a comeback in the early 2000s. I have completed hundreds of thermal treatments and have seen the real field conditions of bed bug control in homes and apartments in the Midwest. It's not a bad read, but really needs updated with actual field information. For example, the temperatures stated in the book are probably laboratory temperatures and not "field" work findings inside a home being treated...it takes much more than 120F inside a home to get a complete bed bug kill. Basically, not enough research had been done on bed bugs when the book was written and accepted practices of today make the book pretty much obsolete.
