Great product,

Great product. We love it on the blow up mattress and in a hotel room. My only complaint is I thought we were getting two for that price and was a little disappointed when only one arrived in the mail. The pictures shows two and I feel it is somewhat deceiving.

worked for my convertable crib/toddler bed!,
By BookBob (Iowa) - See all my reviews
This review is from: BedBugz Portable Bed Bolster, Blue (Baby Product)
I purchased this product because I had a crib that converted to a toddler bed, but it didn't come with any kind of railing to keep my little guy from falling out. Since the toddler bed uses the crib mattress, I was a little concerned about the large size of the bolster--it covers the entire length of the mattress--but my son figured out how to climb right over it to get into and out of bed. It does pop off the mattress sometimes when he is getting in or out, but it isn't too difficult to strap it back on when I tuck him in. I couldn't find any other kind of railing that fit my son's bed, so the BedBugz saved me from just having to pile pillows on the floor next to the bed.

DO NOT BUY! Safety Hazard,
This review is from: BedBugz Portable Bed Bolster (Baby Product)
This product is a safety hazard. I thought this was the greatest invention until last night. My daughter woke up screaming and when I went into her room, she had fallen out of bed and was tangled in the elastic strap. It was wrapped around her neck and arm. Thank the Lord she was ok. I am returning the item today.

Can't replace a true bed rail,

I didn't have the same luck with this as everyone else did. My daughter kept slidding under this. I thank God she was only sleeping on a low bed because she fell out twice before I removed it. You need a lot of room in a bed for this to possibly work. It might work better if the middle was secured to the bed which is does not.I don't think I will use it again. It was a waste of money. And definately a risk for children in normal height beds. A portable bed rail is much safer.

No other options,

I was a little disappointed to find that only one bolster comes in a package. I think it's really pricey to pay $40 for one in flatable plastic tube with a thin cotton cover. Anyway I went ahead and ordered another one just because I haven't found in other portable options for keeping a toddler in a bed. This one deflates flat so it's very easily packable. On our vacation my 2 yr. old son did stay in the bed but I'm not sure that it was the Bed Bugz that kept him there. One night I checked on him and the bolster was hanging off the side of the bed. He is able to kick it off with his legs. If he actually lays correctly on the bed I think it works ok but once they get turned 90 degress it's easy to move off. Then if they happen to spin back around they have no bolster protecting them from falling off. It would make more sense to me to have the strap go around the width of the mattress not the length of the mattress. However, I'm not planning on returning it because I haven't found any better options and it's better than nothing. I'll just have to continually check on it.

It wasn't clear that there was only one in the box. It seems they should be sold in pairs.

I ordered this company's BedBugz Inflatable Bed Rails from one of their retailers. When it came we eagerly strapped it to our son's bed. It wasn't long enough to block the entire side of the mattress, but that was okay with us. Unfortunately, it didn't keep the child in the bed at all. It easily rolled off the bed no matter how securely we tightened it, and our son easily rolled over it once it had fallen off the bed. (The mattress may never recover from our attempts to tighten this product.)Short of putting this product down the direct center of the bed we could not find any other way to keep it on the bed. However, putting it down the center of the bed was impractical, there wasn't enough room left for my son to comfortably sleep. The pictures I have seen are all misleading. Leaving six inches to a foot on the outside of the bedrail did not keep it on the bed. I went to the instructions to see if there was some trick to this bed rail. Unfortunately the instructions were only in spanish. I then e-mailed the company asking them to e-mail me some English directions. I never heard from them. This is a seriously flawed product being sold by what is apparently a shady company. Buyer beware.

Dangerous, get the Bed Bug Bumper instead,

This review is from: BedBugz Portable Bed Bolster (Baby Product)
I thought this was adorable and would work great with my toddler's crib converted to a toddler bed. Sure, it's cute, but after many nights of thuds and cries, including a bloody nose from landing on his face, I'd had it. It simply would not stay on the bed if he pressed against it at all. It would roll off the side, no matter how inflated/deflated we got it or tight we cinched it. In desperation, I found and bought the Bed Bug Bumper online from [..], a foam bed rail that goes under the mattress pad and bottom sheet. It is a 100% better product and actually about half the price. It hasn't budged in the last 2 months and he hasn't fallen out of bed once.

This is a neat product and a neat idea but the packaging is deceiving. It states it is good for a double bed but why would you only need one bolster for a double bed? The photo shows two but it comes with only one for $40. Please take note of this!!!

BedBugz Bolsters are great!,

This review is from: BedBugz Portable Bed Bolster, Blue (Baby Product)
We recently went on a 19-day cross country road trip with our 2-1/2-year-old son. I purchased the Bed Bugz bolsters so that he could sleep in a regular hotel bed by himself without worrying that he would fall out. The bolsters stayed in place and were relatively easy to use. There is a bit involved with getting them blown up and deflated, but once you find the right spot, they inflate and deflate quickly.I would like to note that the bolsters I purchased stated that they would work for a bed up to full size. I found that they also worked on queen sized beds just fine. It would be nice if they came with a carry bag to travel with and store them in when not in use. |
