Bed Desk not for Laptops,
I purchased the Bed Desk for use with my laptop. The first thing I noticed was that it was to high to use in bed. The second thing was that when you put the top of the desk at an angle, there is a wood stop that keeps the laptop from sliding forward. That lip is to high and it digs into your wrists and also the screws on the hinge were sticking out and gave my 2 year old laptop it's first scratches! It may work out ok as a serving tray or magazine/book rack for use in your bed but thats about it. Even as a lap tray when your sitting in a chair, the all wood underneath is hard on your legs. Not the best designed thing and am returning it.

Nifty Idea. Needs Modifications.,
It is a great idea but could use some tweaking. The legs are non-adjustable and are a little too high for use in bed, creating poor working ergonomics. Yes, you have the option to ship it back and have them saw the legs down to your desired height- but who wants to do that!? The legs also fold in easily and do not secure outward, creating instability on a mattress. Also, If you want to do homework on it, there is no way you can fit a book and a notebook on its surface. Not really worth the 80 bucks you pay after S&H.

A must for any laptop owner,

This is a truly amazingly versatile product. I have used a number of "coolpad" type products to support my laptop, but this one is the best. It works marvelously on chair, couch, bed, anywhere. The legs fold so that you can rest it directly on your lap. The top tilts and locks so you can adjust the viewing angle to suit your needs. You can also use it to support a book handsfree (a cookbook or manual, for instance). It folds down into a nice compact flat package for easy storage. It is a bit heavy, (about 8 lbs) but that's the price you pay for solid construction - and a lifetime guarantee. Highly recommended.
Pros: very versatile, flexible folds into a slim profile for easy storage well built, sturdy, lifetime guarantee Cons: A bit heavy for travel Base model is unfinished (bare wood)

I purchased this bed desk for my husband as a birthday gift. He loves it! It will hold rather heavy books, is durable, and the best part is it folds down for easy storage. Recommend.

Its meant for books hence the pencil slot in the side...
I love this- met the creator at a street fair and only wished i had found this before the end of my master's program.. Sure the catch at the end is inconvenient if you are trying to type (don't think that was what it was made for), but it definately holds your laptop in an array of angles for viewing ppoints, movies, whatever.. But BOOKS actual paper pages, this thing rocks. I have since given 3 to friends and often recommend them for people with neck problems due to forward head posture. Proper positioning allows for people to level their heads as they read in bed, or sitting in a chair or on the floor w cushions as i often find myself... So just be clear what your intention of use is.

Very helpful, but TALL legs,

I'm on pregnancy bed rest, but able to recline at 45 degrees & use this for my laptop for short periods of time. Not sure how well it would manage a computer at any steeper angle, but I'm sure it would work well for books.
The legs are quite tall, which would probably accomodate bigger people using it - but I had to get the legs cut down. No trouble, just need to be sure you've got someone who can do that for you.

Great portable child's desk,

I purchased a few of these for my elementary school children to use as a desk. These portable desks are great for children to sit and write their homework when needing to do school work in the car, at the soccer field, or just waiting for sister to finish ballet. Then they fold up and the children can carry them to the car. Perfect for kids portable desks.

Works wonderfully,

We got this desk for use with an easy chair. The fit and finish was smooth and assembled neatly. We applied some nice Minwax stain and semi-gloss finish to complete it
This is clearly intended as a desk as it has an adjustable easel surface (Plainly shown in the image). We also modified the leg height to better fit its use with the chair but that was a minor operation for us to do with our tools. I am quite pleased with the product.

Buyer Beware!,
This review is from: Natural (Barewood) Bed Desk (Kitchen)
Please be aware that this product is also sold at thebeddesk.com and there is an unwritten "no return no refund" policy. I purchased a bed desk for my father, who unfortunately passed away before it was received. Mr David Drake, the inventor and president of the company refuses to refund my money despite my having returned the desk untouched in it's original packaging. Buy at your own risk unless you can afford to lose the $50+ cost of the product.
