We've resorted to manually pressing rhinestones through fabric and then pressing the bedazzler onto the rhinestone.

I then purchased some two part gems on ebay in hopes they would work better then the ones that came with the BeDazzler - again only have limited success.

Of course, I only remember thinking how awesome the BeDazzler was, so I thought it would be the perfect gift for my 9-year-old niece.

I had the original BeDazzler as kid - I remember bugging my parents relentlessly until they finally caved and gave it to me three weeks before Christmas. My mom and I spent a week trying to get it to work. At 11, I was unable to work it myself; my mom had to do everything for me. I ended up with a BeDazzled jean jacket (yeah, I'm old) and a matching pair of jeans. The jacket actually lasted quite awhile, but the jeans lost half of the rhinestones after the first wash. The BeDazzler was relinquished to non-washable projects only after that.

Of course, I only remember thinking how awesome the BeDazzler was, so I thought it would be the perfect gift for my 9-year-old niece. I also assumed that after 20 years, BeDazzler would have worked out the kinks and started producing a better version. HA.

When we opened the package, I found the exact same BeDazzler I received 20 years ago. I cut myself trying to open the package of settings and instantly remembered how I used to cut myself on those very same prongs years ago. Ah, the memories. I'm pretty sure the scar I still have on my left hand was from catching a BeDazzler prong. Anyway, I set everything up and we tried to BeDazzle a t-shirt. To my niece's horror, the setting wouldn't hold the rhinestone - I had to manipulate the prongs by hand to attach the rhinestone, which promptly fell right out as soon as she tried the shirt on. BUST.

I packaged everything back up and shipped it back to Amazon for a full refund, and ordered a Darice Hotfix Rhinestone Setting Tos for less than a third of the price of this hunk o' plastic. I also ordered a package of 144 SS16 Swarovski crystals and still had more than a third of the price of this thing leftover.

I'm disappointed with my BeDazzler. The process of putting the gems in the machine - positioning the machine just right, pressing down, finding out the little prongs did not fold right, removing gem and trying again - is tedious.

I keep adjusting the machine but best I can do is have a success rate of 1 out of every attempt. If the prongs on the gems do not fold over correctly then the gem will not say on the fabric.

I then purchased some two part gems on ebay in hopes they would work better then the ones that came with the BeDazzler - again only have limited success. Getting the prongs to fold over the gem is trial and error - sometimes it works, most of the time not all of the prongs fold over correctly.

I really wanted to have creative fun with the BeDazzler, but instead I spent most of my time with it being frustrated...

It seems like I have better luck putting the gems in place manually and folding them over with a metal thimble on my finger....

I got this product for my girlfriend for christmas, and when she opened it, she was delighted. I also purchased a plethora of stones for her to place. While the transaction with the seller was an excellent experience, the quality of the product was complete garbage. There are many other stud setters out there, and I recommend anyone looking for this type of equipment seek a different one. The quality of the construction is cheap plastic, and cheap metal parts. Nine out of ten times, when she pressed down the mechanism to set the stone or stud, the prongs wouldn't go through t-shirt type material all the way, and if they did, they would not bend the teeth the correct way. She had more luck setting the stones with her fingers, and bending the teeth with a spoon.

We bought two and have had same problem with each. Rhinestones fall out of the plunger before making contact with fabric. We've resorted to manually pressing rhinestones through fabric and then pressing the bedazzler onto the rhinestone. A lot of contraption for very little function.

Really don't like this product.. The dazzle doesn't stay on the clothing for a long period of time and ninety percent of the time it doesn't attach to the clothing.

This product is not worth 20 cents let alone $20! My grand daughter was so looking forward to using this item but it would not work as described. I have worked and worked with it, but no, doesn't do what it's said it does. I need to return this item! Darlene

I gave it 4 stars because it requires a lot of my assistance, but my 8 year old loves the results and so far it hasn't been too hard to use. The hardest part has been finding more rhinestones since craft stores now carry mostly glue or iron on gems.
