Savage Worlds (which I got new for $10) is my current favorite RPG system. If you're playing a supers champaign with SW, the first book to get is Necessary Evil ... mmm, wait a sec, I got that for $20. Okay, the first book to get might be Super Powers Companion).

Prices are fluctuating a lot because some good SW books have gone out of print. A new edition of SW comes out in August 2011. Sorry for sounding like the Monty Python Spanish Inquisition, but every book recommendation I was planning to make has seen a doubling or tripling in price in the past few weeks.

So, Bedlam City ... I was going to say this might be a good Fourth book to get if you're doing an SW Supers campaign, but maybe it should be the 2nd or 3rd book to consider.

Bedlam City is intended to be the sidetrek city. The Camden to New York City, the Shreveport to New Orleans, the Smallville to Metropolis. The crime is worse here, but it's not considered all that glorious a place, so the super criminals stay away, as do most of the superheros.

Bedlam would be good for a low-level supers campaign -- the crime lords are well developed. There are some also some good secrets to the city, and chances for detective work. Pretty good, but it might be easier to wing something with a Liberty City guide, if the players have played GTA.
