Book Description

From NYT and USA Today Bestseller Jessica Clare…

Kandis Thornton isn’t afraid to lie, scheme, and sneak her way to the grand prize money on the Reality TV show, House Guests. That prize money is the only thing keeping her mother from losing her house (and thus moving in with Kandis). She needs that money, and if she has to step on a few people to do so? She’ll do it. House Guests is a show all about outplaying your house-mates, after all, and she’s not there to make friends.

But Kandis didn’t count on the fact that someone else was going to be playing just as hard as her. And she didn’t plan on teaming up with her nemesis, or scheming their way to the top.

Nor did she plan on sleeping with him.

But these things just happen when you’re stuck in a ridiculous house with nothing but time on your hands and a hot guy sharing your bedroom…

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun and Sexy November 5, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Playing Games. The fourth book in Jessica Clare's (Jill Myles) Games series. I fell in love with this series with the first book Wicked Games.

Kandis Thornton is in desperate need for some fast cash. She's not above lying, scheming and some dirty game play to get it. So she's applied to be a contestant on the reality show "House Guests" (think something along the lines of Big Brother). Whatever it takes, to win the prize money and help her mother keep her house and hopefully get her the help she needs.

We first met our male lead in the second book, Playing Games. Where he quickly let it be known he was all about winning. Even if it meant screwing over his own sister in the process. Brodie Short is not about to lose a reality show for the second time. With his winning smile, easy going manner and flirting with everyone in a skirt, he just might be able to do it this time.

What neither Brodie or Kandis expects is to have to play with a partner. Especially a partner who wants to win as bad as either of them. And wouldn't it figure. They get paired with each other. The teams are voted out in pairs, so for either of them to stay, they are going to have to learn to play the game with each other. Both outside of the bedroom and in.

If you love a fun spin on reality television, with some serious game play and a sexy romance, I think you'll like this series.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good but not a home run for me like the others... December 10, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is the fourth in the Games series and I have loved every one of them…except this one. And I really, REALLY wanted to love this one. However, when it is held up against the standard set by the other three books, I found this one, well, lacking.

Let me explain…

I love the main character, Kandis. I love that she was flawed from the beginning, I love that she was trite enough to be a Zumba instructor – a cliche who really wasn’t cliche at all. But, I couldn’t stand Brodie. I tried, I really did. And it wasn’t because he was the villain in the second book.

I just found him so over-the-top ridiculous, especially several points of his dialogue that I caught myself rolling my eyes at him. He wasn’t just a playboy, that would have fit his character. It was the stupid, 70s porn-star comments he made at points. I was almost laughing at the ridiculousness of it. In all honesty, he was the same kind of tool you’d expect to find on Big Brother (I mean, House Guests).

And I will say, Brodie was the ONLY down side to this book which I think made it even more disappointing. I have loved every one of the heroes/heroines in the Games novels. I even enjoyed the reappearance of Brodie’s sister, Katy and her hero, Liam.

The plot, the games, the minor characters…every bit of the story had me feeling like I was watching a marathon of Big Brother and I loved that. By the time I finished the book (only 2 hrs later) I was praying that her next Games story (yes, there is one!) would be about Jenden. In fact, I would have liked to see more of him instead of Brodie in this one.

In spite of my dislike of Brodie’s character (did I mention I didn’t like him), I still really enjoyed the book and would read it again.

If you've read my reviews of the other books in Jessica Clare's Games series (Wicked Games, Playing Games, Ice Games), you know I once considered myself a total reality TV addict. I didn't care about comedies or dramas on TV. Give me reality any day. I could get everything I needed in one place. I've slowly weaned myself off most reality shows. The only two I still watch are So You Think You Can Dance and Big Brother. Guess which show this book is based off? Big. Brother. It should be no surprise this is my favorite book in the series so far.

Bedroom Games introduces us to my favorite heroine in the series (to date anyhow), Kandis. I thought she was funny and snarky. She was determined to win and she had a very believable reason to want to do so. She was a strong player on the show and she could be ruthless when she needed to be. As a fan of the game, I had to respect her gameplay, even if it was a bit sketchy at times. I mean, that's the name of the game after all. It was easy for me to root for her.

Brodie, who you'll remember from Playing Games if you've read the series so far, is back. Now, I detested Brodie in Playing Games. He was a jerk. He threw his sister under the bus. We see a different side of Brodie in Bedroom Games. He's still playing the hell out of the game, but he's not the jerk I might have originally thought. He and Kandis were a great pair. She didn't put up with his bullish*t or fall for his come-ons. You know... until she did. Then suddenly, they were the unbeatable pair in the game, spending their nights together while the cameras were off (hello, HOT!) and each wondering what the other was up to with the other players. I loved them together. They were passionate about the game–and each other.

More About the Author

New York Times and USA Today Bestselling author Jessica Clare writes under three pen names. As Jessica Clare, she writes erotic contemporary romance. As Jessica Sims, she writes fun, sexy shifter paranormals. She also has a third pen name, because three is more fun than two. As Jill Myles, she writes a little bit of everything, from sexy, comedic urban fantasy to fairy tales gone wrong.

She lives in a teeny tiny town in North Texas that has no Starbucks, which is a cruel and unusual punishment. She spends her time with her husband, pets, and Keurig. Because, coffee.
