Want to see an example of "cause song" that has the opposite effect? Rather than get people motivated to your cause, turn them away? Listen to this "all star" line-up for this track, "Beds are Burning." In addition to a monotone, heavy-handed spoken intro, this effort manages to take one of the most dynamic politically-charge rock songs -- Midnight Oil's "Beds are Burning" (about aboriginal rights in Australia) -- and turn it into a vapid, boring ode to climate change. Very disappointing.

Well I give these great artist their due first. It's obvious they care and want to bring awareness to a critical subject. It has got to be hard to do this though when the Music and song itself just, well, stinks. When "We are the World came out it had some movement and real emotion in it and it just lit everyone up to wanting to help. This is one big downer right from the begining. It comes across as a bad stab at trying to do the right thing and missing by a mile. Keith Phelps

NO! NO! NO! Such a worthy cause, but such a horrible execution and waste of resources. This is awful! They sucked the energy out of one of my favorite tunes of all time. If they wanted to do it right, they should have teamed up with Peter and the guys and make an entirely new song, not re-write a classic. I'm an advocate for conservation/environmental causes, but this is not going to help, and may actually hinder by giving the opposition one more thing to make fun of. I applaud the effort to bring about awareness, but this is not the right way to do it. The first thing that comes to mind is when Adam Ant tried to lend his voice for primate conservation by changing another one of my all-time favorite songs "Stand and Deliver," to "Save the Gorillas." It was awkwardly embarrassing and did absolutely nothing for the cause.

Like Ferngully this song is obnoxiously preachy and based on bunk science if any at all. Beds Are Burning?
