This was a small but complete version of physical examination that barely fit in a lab coat, but easily in a small Lilly black bag (OK, so most of you may not remember that far back). I enjoy the simple explanations, sometimes arcane maneuvers and hand-drawn pictures and diagrams. All the information I ever need to teach bedside diagnosis is there. I get a comfortable nostalgic feel and my limited bookshelf is not adversely burdened.

My favorite version is from 1968, but this continued to be published for over a decade until the son updated the work with a new compatriot and a larger binding. Such is progress...
