5.0 out of 5 stars Great 2nd Album
I purchased the first Bedtime with The Beatles before my son was born. (I wanted to ensure my child would grow up appreciating Beatles music as I am a huge fan.) When I heard the second album was out, I knew I had to have it. It's just as great as the first album. I can't say the music puts my baby to sleep, but the songs are beautiful (of course) and the renditions...

3.0 out of 5 stars Lesser effort in this second one
I was a bit dissapointed with this second part of Bedtime With The Beatles. It seems that Jason was in a hurry or something, because it is clear that he didn't run the extra mile as he did with the first one. Songs like Penny Lane;it does not sound as a lullaby at all and Jason just did a grey arrangement to it and kept it looping during the whole song even in parts where...

When I heard the second album was out, I knew I had to have it. It's just as great as the first album. I can't say the music puts my baby to sleep, but the songs are beautiful (of course) and the renditions are lovely. I play them more for myself than for anyone else. Beatles fan? This is a must. Enjoy good, relaxing music? I would again recommend this album.

4.0 out of 5 stars JF delivers the goods, July 3, 2008

I'm more a fan of the rock (Jason's rock more than anything), and bought this (and its predecessor) mostly out of loyalty to the man. But I have to note that his rendition of Hey Jude on this disc is well worth whatever Amazon is charging for the album, and makes me happier than just about anything. Thanks, Jason.

We love love love this disc. we have btwb one and loved that, so we gave disc 2 a shot. Jason has done an amazing job taking mom and dad's favorite's and making them baby's favorites too. This has become part of our bedtime routine, and plays on repeat ALL night long. Well worth the purchase. Baby or no baby!!

I was a bit dissapointed with this second part of Bedtime With The Beatles. It seems that Jason was in a hurry or something, because it is clear that he didn't run the extra mile as he did with the first one. Songs like Penny Lane;it does not sound as a lullaby at all and Jason just did a grey arrangement to it and kept it looping during the whole song even in parts where it doesn't match at all..
Hey Jude is a interesting effort, but the voice needed to be more "maternal".
The only song that blew me up is Good Night, which all of us wondered why on earth Jason didn't include it in the first Bedtime. Now we know why: because a second Bedtime was to come...
By the way.. the cover could have been a little more related to the first one.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice sequel, February 7, 2010

Very nice sequel to his original Bedtime with the Beatles. The first was the superior in my mind (and is quieter)--better for "bedtime." Both have been hits with my young son, and these two albums (and a selection of Vince Guaraldi's Peanuts music) make up his most frequent nighttime "go to sleep" music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cool music for adults as well as little ones., February 24, 2010

Accomplished musician Jason Falkner showcases his creative talent here on these 10 classic songs by the Beatles, that UK group dubbed the "Fabulous Four". Jason's own brand of unique `editing' in terms of arrangements, has yielded a twist of newness to these timeless melodies. In my opinion, here are the re-creations of a musical `maverick', if you will, who has found yet another path for taking his skill "deeper". Adventurous he has been in the sense that his trained ear searches constantly to appeal to and bring unique music to the ears of the listener. Jason has likely strayed into musical ground, if you will, "where no man has gone before"-- I find these melodically-enhanced intrepretations unclassifiable yet totally captivating.

In my opinion, these cover tunes (though billed as music for children) are cool and can be listened to and enjoyed by adults as well as "innocent" smaller ones. One can sing, even hum, to the melodies as they are very recognizably orchestrated.

The style is professional and completely artistically presented. Usually, this music-form tends to be smooth and mellow, slowed up befittingly, and vocal-less. Yet, on the track HEY JUDE there is some low harmonious humming with a few barely-audible "hey jude" words.
As for the instrumentation, the sound is strongly `surround' as if encircling, especially on tracks 1 and 10, NORWEGIAN WOOD and GOOD NIGHT, respectively.
Beware! Instruments and produced-sounds may or may not be identifiable. Here the beauty comes not in the WHAT, but in the IS. Jason is an artist... a tinkler, a tickler of musical sound to attract the ear! A one-man show, it seems, since "all instruments, voices and noises" are by Mr. Falkner himself.

All of the arrangements are worthy, yet my personal fav is Track 10, GOOD NIGHT, which is most markedly melodic with good ambience. Instrumentally, the gentle chimes seem to be the obvious `stars' from beginning to end on this track, with perhaps piano/keyboards coming in a distant second... a well-chosen piece for this album, and so readily ear-catching. In my opinion, NORWEGIAN WOOD rates number one in terms of its creative originality.

An attractive cover-insert, displaying colorful images of three toy yellow submarines in tapering presentation, is included (the four Beatles appear to be passengers). Nice keepsake. Note also inside the case and on the wrapper the special `thanks' sent to Mr. Falkner by Paul McCartney himself.

This 2008 release is a follow-up to Mr. Falkner's earlier 2001 Bedtime With The Beatles. In his notes, he acknowledges his "opportunity to record" with the famous Paul McCartney a few years after he recorded the first "Bedtime With The Beatles". He says that Mr. McCartney's reaction to this first album was "enthusiastic".
Jason admits that he designed his albums for the "innocent ears" of children. He adds, "the versions"... "are conceptually designed to lull the listener to sleep (or at least to a sedated yet engaged place)".

Mr. Falkner is a fog-on-the mirror musician, and these 10 tracks are reflections of his time, energy, effort.
Try this one, you'll be glad you that you did.
