When my three children were growing up I read to them a lot. I think it is very important. It not only creates an interest in reading, but also acquaints them with a world outside of, or should I say a hidden world inside of their own world. Also, it is a perfect way to show them how similar actions of others(in this case Frances) are illustrative of their own and in this way allows them to be more objective about their own actions. I bought this book for my Pastor's daughter who acts just like Frances when trying to get her to go to bed. I used this book with my own children.
