I've been eagerly awaiting the release of Twila's newest CD and I sure wasn't disappointed! Please don't pass this album by because it's a "lullaby" album. I put it on to play while I was having my Quiet Time and I was very blessed by the peaceful music and simple but profound lyrics.

The first track is "God Is All Around Us":

"He is stronger than the eagle circling above He's wiser than the oldest owl, more gentle than a dove. He's closer than pajamas that fit me like a glove God is all around us, and He is love."

Every single song on this album is wonderful, "More Than I Can Say" is one that I think will speak to everyone, young and old, and will be helpful to those who have experienced hurts in their lives and need the assurance that God is always here for you...

"And if you don't have a mother, He will sing you lullabies And He'll be right beside you every day When you're all alone at night in bed If you feel like crying, it's okay He will wipe your tears away

And if you don't have a daddy He will be your father too And He will always keep you in His sigh When it gets too dark to see ahead And you can't find your way It's still alright He will be your guiding light."

Twila and her husband Jack are expecting her first child very soon. Twila had already written the songs on this album when she found out that she was pregnant. After a marriage of 16 years, she was thinking that maybe it wasn't God's will for her to be a mother, and she turned it over completely to God. God answered her prayer - in his perfect timing.

This album is too good to be simply labelled a "children's lullaby album". Remember this is Twila Paris we are talking about. Some of her other great slower songs could easily have been on this album ("He is a Song", "My Lips Will Praise You", "When You Speak to Me", "I Will Listen") and the tracks on this album follow in the same style. There is definitely a lack of strong percussion, as appropriate for the theme (i.e. you don't want little Johnny dancing along to "God is in Control" at bedtime!) The arrangements and instrumentals are reminiscent of the sound on "Perennial" and brings back folks like Chris Rodriguez and Phil Keaggy to work again with Twila.

Twila has the voice and writing talent that truly leads to a project like this, and the timing for her personally couldn't have been better (she is due with her first child very shortly). As a parent I can say my daughter has already taken a liking to the album, and my son (an ardent Steven Curtis Chapman fan at 3 years old!) didn't even say "This is boring!" which he usually says with most "kiddie" or "lullaby" albums. That alone is a testament to the excellence of this album. As for personal favorite tracks I will say "God is All Around Us" and "My Delight", but all these tracks flow so well together it is difficult to really break the album down into individual tracks.

A friend recommended this CD for my granddaughter when she heard I was going to provide day care for my new granddaughter. I had never heard Twila Paris before, so I had no idea what to expect. I couldn't have been more pleased with it! My granddaughter absolutely loves its peaceful, soothing tones. I appreciate the words she heards every day reaffirming her place in our world and in God's love. I have bought another copy for my sister, who provides a foster home for babies preparing to be adopted, and one for my son's family, who lives in another state. My granddaughter lights up when she hears the first notes of the first song, relaxing into a peaceful demeanor the whole time the CD plays. She is 10 months now and has loved it since she first heard it at 3 months. I wish she had heard it since birth. It is perfect for nap time and quiet play time.

My mom got this CD for our newborn. While she's (not quite) old enough to sing along yet, the music on this album is very peaceful and soothing, both to her and her parents!

I'm a big fan of Twila Paris anyway, and this CD was certainly not a disappointment. It's a great way to start your children listening to Godly music.

I feel somewhat out of place in writing a review of this CD, being one of the few reviewers who does not have any children. However, having loved Twila's music for 20 years, since the original releases of albums like "Keeping My Eyes On You" and "The Warrior Is A Child," even so, I was blown away and deeply touched by this record.

Far more than just an album of lullabies for children, of course it's an album for all of us, for the child in all of us that longs to hear the comfort of the Father's voice, to feel the strength and security of his love.

Twila's songs and delivery here capture that tenderness and longing beautifully. Having heard "Perennial" and "Sanctuary" ...in my opinion, if anything, she has achieved an even deeper and more personal level of writing; the lyrics and melodies are simple and poignant, the arrangements gentle, sparse and peaceful.

Through all the songs you can hear God's quiet voice of love reaching out to you... in all, a wonderful recording, a pure joy for Twila fans and deserving of a place in the collection of every one of God's "children" ... even the not-so-young.

If you are a Twila Paris fan, you will love this CD. She is a gifted songwriter/singer and her lyrics have such depth and meaning, yet these are so simple that my 3 year old daughter can sing all the words from the bottom of her heart! She can't pick a favorite song because each night it changes...they are all that good! Twila has the perfect voice for peaceful lullabies. After 3 kids and traditional lullaby tapes, I am so grateful to find this CD which actually has wonderful messages for my kids and confirms all that I'm trying to teach them as they are growing up. Each song will speak to your heart. You will not be disappointed (if you like Twila) if you buy this CD. It's also a perfect way to be a witness to others...I plan on giving this as baby shower gifts (a gift with eternal value!).

This is definately Twila Paris's very best album. It is one of the type of albums I have been waiting for her to release. An album full of soft soothing melodies exempt of strong percussions. The words are very powerful and very Christ-oriented. This album is a must especially for parents!

I first heard this Twila Paris cd at a friend's house when she was rocking and nursing her infant son. I was pregnant at the time and decided to buy it. We used it religiously (no pun intended) when putting our first daughter to sleep at night--it seemed to help differentiate day sleep from the longer night sleeping. She still listens to it each night at almost 3 years old, and it works great when she's sick or scared, too. Her 17 month old sister started listening to it around 9 months, so now we have several for home, travel, and "just incase one is misplaced." I'm a musician, and I love the timbre of her voice, the words (of course), and the general atmosphere that the instrumentation creates. I like to think of the message of God's love for our daughters whispered in their ears each night. It's a lovely album--practically a part of our family, now.

This CD has helped ease my (not so easy to get to sleep!) son to sleep for the past several months. The music is beautiful and peaceful, the words are comforting and uplifting. My son is not yet 2 and he hums some of the choruses! I highly recommend this CD for anyone who wants to relax, and especially for babies/young children.

This was given as a gift to me, it's so good I am purchasing this CD for all of my friends when they have a baby!

I have been a Twila Paris fan for a long time and have many of her CD's. I recently had my first baby, so I bought this CD for my little one. I play it for the baby, but I also like to listen to it myself when I just want to relax. It is very peaceful.
