Beguiling white bunny Rosie takes center page in this cheery pair of lift-the-flap concept books. While preschoolers' daily routines are familiar fare on the bookshelves, Yee's sweet rendition sets these volumes apart. A brief bit of text on each left-hand page encourages readers to participate in Rosie's activities ("Help Rosie wash her face," "Help Rosie show us her picture") by lifting a flap on the facing page. In an inventive touch, artwork on the underside of the flaps changes the action in the scene. The text also builds vocabulary by listing a few objects that children can search for in the chipper, boldly outlined paintings ("What's in the bathtub with Rosie?... soap, duck, washcloth"). Bold swatches of rich color saturate these sturdy pages, which are sure to get lots of wear. Ages 2-5.

My 2 year old loves reading about Rosie and her day! This book and all the flaps was especially cute! This makes going to bed seem fun. We were hooked and now want to collect them all!

My three year old really liked lifting the flaps to help Rosie get ready for bed. He also liked identifying the objects she used, which are labeled on each left page, and then found in the picture on each right page. Some items may be a little beyond the target audience, like the hand-held mirror and bathroom cup, as I'm guessing children who are old enough to use these items well would be too old to be interested in the book, but it's still cute.
