3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad. Kindle transfer a bit lacking December 23, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
The transfer to Kindle wasn't proofread very well. There are font changes in the middle of stories and the stories don't break onto new pages. There are also some transfer errors (lower case L showing as a one, for example) that are annoying.

The stories themselves are decent. They have some adult content, so don't plan on reading them to your kids. Mid to late teens should be fine with them and will probably enjoy them.

Having attended a live reading and knowing the author personally, I know for sure I will never let Antoinette watch my children. Good thing I don't have any.

This collection of 10 tales is perfect for some light reading while on the bus, train, passenger car, pontoon, frigate, steamer, 18-wheeler, x-wing, y-wing, tardis or bar stool. Worth every penny and more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome. February 29, 2012

If you happen to have an extra buck lying around you should buy this book. It's short but the stories are great. I didn't expect much when I purchased this book, it definitely exceeded my expectations.

5.0 out of 5 stars LMAO May 21, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
It ended all too quickly. Sometimes I didn't really want to know more, but then, yes the stories are just too good. Very funny, just wish I knew more kids to read them to...not.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bedtime stories June 9, 2011

I enjoyed these ten, dark, twisted tales by fledgling author Antoinette Bergin. I hope to see more installments in the future.

4.0 out of 5 stars worth the money March 11, 2012

For the price the book is worth it. It is full of short stories that are perfect to read between stops on the bus. As an added bonus the stories are usually pretty funny.

3.0 out of 5 stars Trying to be Roald Dahl, but fun January 22, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
If you havent read any of Roald Dahl's adult stories, you will love this! The stories are funny and strange and quite unexpected. Unfortunately, since I have read the aforementioned books, I kind of knew where it was going after the first story.

If you want something that is quick to read and quirky, go for this. Make sure no-one is reading over your shoulder :)

On the Kindle side, it is distracting that the font changes half way thorugh the book. Disappointing.

Three stars overall because it was fun but I wont read it again, it just didnt quite work for me enough to rate it higher.

4.0 out of 5 stars 3 stars for content + 1 for price February 14, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Of the 10 stories in this book, only one ("Will Fluffy Live Forever?") lived up to the title as the kind of story you use for the express purpose of traumatizing the little poo-maggots. Of the remainder, they show an admirable amount of hatred towards children but none of innocent cruelty that causes kids to randomly wake up screaming and run to their parents bed.

That said, it was well worth 99 cents, and stories like "Kevin's First and last Trip to the Zoo" may not increase bedwetting or therapy bills but are fun to read aloud with weary parents, grade school teachers and other people with a grudge against the young.

The title doesn't really fit the stories. I have found the stories to be fun reading - although they are not for children.

I thought this would be a funny, alternative take on fairy tales and children's stories, but it's just nasty and mean, and I stopped reading after a few pages.

5.0 out of 5 stars good read
Wish there was a bit more to it. It was an easy, reading read though. Probably appropriate for a cheesy dorm room story telling session.

Interesting, yet somewhat lacking. Very Brittish, a bit dated but for $.99 what the Heck? I was not blown away, but it is a quick read. Read more
